24 millions divide per 50% = 12M divide by 5 years with a 10.5 M per make a lot of saving for Arizona .. especially if they pass other bad contract in the deal . Price contract was front-loaded .. Arizona might be inticed IF the deal is right .. maybe pass it to a third party keep money again and gain prospects , picks idk ..

what jokes? Nothing you have said comes off as a joke
and no one is whining besides what looks like you with the tone of your replies

Just commenting on the reality of what you are proposing isnt whining...

Does Marian Hossa was healty when traded ?No he already stated he'll never play again , Can Carey Price be traded? Absolutly . Is it likely ? Ok probably not atm . Giroux and Gaudreau both get $1.5-2M more each on their deals, so you need to clear out deals.

Petry controls his destiny so I'd be shocked if you don't have to attach a pick to him to get him out the door. Armia doesn't have an NTC, but he's also got a terrible cap hit for 3 more years and nobody's lining up to take that deal off your hands.

Price is supposedly coming back, but even if he's hurt, at the very least you're just dropping him on another team for nothing in return, leaving your goalie tandem of Jake Allen & Sam Montembault. We've seen how well that tandem has performed this year, so to go back to the fist point - why are Johnny Gaudreau and Claude Giroux even signing in the first place, then?

Fact and the matters stay. Gaudreau to Mtl is a possibility . Giroux on a hometown discount would be the cherish on the sundae !

Hossa wasnt healthy, he had a medical condition that stopped him from playing, NHL reviewed and confirmed to be the case.
Teams just cant put guys on LTIR, medical records are reviewed.

Price hasnt ruled himself out for the rest of his career.....again you are not applying the right logic.
Price has a NMC, he will block it as well.

attaching a pick to Petry to get rid seems unlikely but who know's and why not if so ? Mike Hoffman , Jonathan Drouin come to mind . Christian Dvorak was a good NHLer before moving to Mtl . Maybe we can fetch a first ( we pay more) and let Shane Wright fill the void ?
Your probably right about price of UFA .. But this is a simplify version .. Making trade come with shi tty conversation .Like just mentionning Price ( i should have avoid at all cost)

Price didnt block Seattle from selecting him . Tony Marinaro said on Habs podcast ( reputed journalism in MTL) That Price wanted Seattle to pick him .. It's fair to say that the hobbit wanna get out the hole ..

Care to comments ? You understand that Ottawa was able to pay south of 45M while cap floor was at 67 or something a year or two ago ?

Being traded to arizona doesn't mean you don't get traded few minutes later at 50% retention ..(yet again)
Or you are on LTIR forever and never will hit the ice again .
What is your personal expertise in that area ?
Sounds to me that Price career is over is a healthy 5 - 10% possibility .
What was your personal odds on Andrew Luck retirement 2 days before he did?

The guys you mention are all going to be tough sells to try and move out though. Petry's struggles and contract have been beaten to death around these parts, so we don't need to revisit. Mike Hoffman is a 32 year old goal scorer who's only scored 9 this year and has 2 more years at $4.5M. Drouin is signed for another year at $5.5M and has never really lived up to his prospect hype. Dvorak is a fine player but hurt, costs $4.45M for the next 3 years, and cost a 1st and 2nd less than 6 months ago. You're either paying to dump or getting nothing on the first three guys, and definitely losing value on Dvorak if you flip him out.

Let's say you *do* move all 4 guys tho - now you've got to fill basically a full top 6 line of forwards and your RD1. The guys you talk about bringing in (Guhle/Harris/etc) are all going to be young rookies and likely to need a year or two to develop (it's not out of the question they're immediate stars, but I think it's smarter to not just assume that.) If you're Claude Giroux and you're turning 35 next season, are you signing a long term deal with a team like that? Or are you more likely to take shorter term with Cup contenders and try and chase the ring you haven't had yet.

It's definitely understandable why you're aiming for those guys, I think there's just too many moving parts to make that happen in Montreal next season. I think you take next year to develop your younger guys and really push hard in the summer of 2023 to take the next step towards contention.

Of course there a little dream scenario here on the try .. But what would you do from last place if you wish to full a building and sell more beers and condos ?
I would put a team like that on the ice. It's not so good as you mention . But it keep the fans happy with enhance hot-dogs offers ( they now offer mayonnaise )

Honestly, if I'm a Habs fan, I look at the Rangers and hope that my new EVP Jeff Gorton can build the same kind of thing for my team. There's enough paralells - goalie at the end of his career in a spot to mentor the next generation, underperforming guys hopefully picking it up with a new coach and linemates (I could see Dvorak turning into a Strome, maybe even Zibenajad type), and a couple years of mediocrity while you get some younger players developed and ready to take the leap. Let it play out before you give a guy like Giroux too much money on the back end of his career.
