I can't lie, that is very enticing from a Jets perspective.
Which likely means Rangers fans are going to hate it....

The firsts and Schneider is good, but the Jets are giving up Copp for Kakko here and I would have no interest in Kakko, so he would need to be replaced by something the Jets need like Lundkvist or similar.

Copp is a ufa at the end of the year and id say 70% leaving, kakko is a rfa we could sign for a cheap bridge deal for a fresh start on a new team could be interesting. Not the biggest Kakko fan either but could be worth a shot

For sure I agree Copp is leaving, but Kakko isn't impressive at all and the Jets don't need another left shot winger. Kakko has no chance of passing Ehlers or Copp and isn't suited to playing the bottom 6.

Copp is a good trade chip and the Jets should move him for something they need that helps the team rather than another left shot winger to throw on the pile.

Dude, this is a take it and run scenario for WPG. You might want more value for Copp, and he might be worth it on his own, but combining these two for this return is better than anything else you'd get from another team.

I'd agree he wouldn't pass Ehlers, but if Copp is gone they'll need another top 6 winger. I doubt NYR wants to give up on Kaako so early, but if they did and sent him to us I think that'd be a pretty good compensation for Copp leaving. Big forward, definitely plenty of potential.
Idk, I think it might be a decent re-tool for the Jets, maybe if they also brought in a new coach they could re-find a bit of a winning window with Helly

Just a difference of opinion I guess, Kakko hasn't done anything to date to make him desirable or to think he'll ever come close to this pre-draft hype, so he's not an improvement on what the Jets have in house. At least if he was a right shot he'd fill a hole, but he's just a run of the mill, easily found left shot winger that almost the entire Jets forward group is currently composed.

As I said, I'd rather have the Jets use their trade chips to fill sparse areas in the roster as opposed to adding more bodies to deep positions in the hope that there is a 1 in 100 chance he becomes a top 6 player.

Very true. Jets need right handed players badly, D and F.
It's unfortunately all moot anyhow, TNSE is so loyal to guys they like (Scheif/Wheels/coaching staff) that the odds of any big boys like that getting traded are probably zero

Agreed. There is probably no chance Scheifele moves unless he asks to be.

However, if the Jets did move him there would be no shortage of suitors, so they should be able to get a package that suits their needs fairly closely.

After talking to some other Jet fans I think that if the Jets did move Scheifele it may need to be for a package that includes NHL ready players as opposed to picks. Chevy may be trying to save his job and not want to fatten the draft coffers for the next guy.

Replace Kakko with Lafreniere and you have a deal.
