Leafs said that they are not giving up any top picks/prospects for rentals. Although i'd like to have Forsberg, they wont do this because of that reason.

I don't think Kyle specifically said that this year. I know that was the idea last year but lets be honest, his job is on the line so I think if a deal for Forsberg is there and it takes Robertson to get it done, he will pull the trigger. The prospects mean nothing if you can't win a cup.

I think these are both fair, although if you’re trying to get a third party to double retain, i think a little more compensation will have to go their way.

No but like Forsberg, Foligno was a bag of injuries. Toronto does not want to take that chance of bringing in somebody that you'll only get for 25-30 games and potentially another round 1 exit. If that happens, not only did you NOT go any farther in the playoffs, but you lost assets to help you in the future, plus the rental.

Dubas wants term for top prospects and picks. So if a big LW player were to come to Toronto, it'll be J.T. Miller. Not saying it will happen, but Miller is the better option, as he has term.

Hagel is also a good option, and will be a bit cheaper, and exactly who i'd want

Possibly, not really sure what the market will be this year for salary retention, was just basing it off what we saw last year.
