Its 1 year at $2.3 million for a guy that showed potential in Florida to be a 15-20 goal guy. His problem in Boston is he can't handle playing for his hometown team. Why the Rangers do it? Low risk move that if he pans out looks great and it also scores moral points with Vesey and Kevin for when their contracts expire after next year.

Minny wont get fair value for either Brodin or Dumba because teams know they have to move one or lose one for nothing. Spooner is a 40pt-50pt centerman and Morrow is still a young d-men that has yet to get a true shot at the NHL. Not a bad package when they could lose Brodin and get nothing.

Sorry but no. Brodin on the market multiple teams will be involved. They will get fair market value regardless. Spooner has holes and doesn't hold the kind of value that brings in a DMan of Brodins caliber. Morrow has no trade value. The B's have needed a 3rd pairing LD all year long and won't use him, every team in the league knows that. Granted he's just a throw in but quantity does not make up for a lack of quality. They are getting a #1 pick or a good young player equal to that value that's expansion draft exempt and probably a bit more. If you don't realize that you are living in a fantasy world.

Not a fantasy world, MINNY has no leverage in trade talks lol. Maybe they get a late 1st, but even then the guy wont make an NHL impact for 3 years easy (if at all). I think they'd rather a 50pt C/LW that can help on the PP wink

If that doesn't work for them then it doesn't work. I'm not paying market value when they could lose him for nothing and if another team wants to, by all means go ahead lol.

Minny puts Brodin up for trade and multiple teams come calling. That's all the leverage they need. Besides they can make a deal with Vegas not to take him and be better off than taking 50 cents on the dollar. They are up against it both expansion draft wise and cap wise but that doesn't mean they have to fleece themselves to fix the problem. You'd surely take that deal if you were Boston GM....but would you if you were Minny GM and you had an owner to explain your choice to? Be honest. Keep in mind they have just as big a problem at forward as they do on D for the expansion draft. They'd likely have to expose Spooner after trading for him. And they are cap tight with Granlund, Neiderreiter, and now Spooner all set to be RFAs.

Rangers dont need him. they have very little cause to make a trade when they have plenty up front. their concern is the age and shittiness of the contracts on the back end clearing cap room to sign their important RFAs coming up after next season
