Description
I absolutely hate these two moves and know they won’t happen and hope they don’t. But it is an interesting looking team… Thoughts on not necessarily the moves, but the build of the team and on ice aspect?

Read description: I don’t want or think these moves will happen… just thoughts on how the build of this team would perform.

I posted this because Friedman said he’s getting mixed signals on Anderson and he might be available…

Value is decent on the Anderson offer but the only problem is that Montreal loves him and won’t move him unless a team severely overpays. He has term left on his deal so they could easily wait till the off-season and get more teams in the mix to drive the bidding war up. Anything from Toronto starts with a 1st and a top prospect because of the rivalry - you’re likely looking at a 1st + Matt Knies as just the starting point, something that’s far too rich for Toronto to consider

Anderson is not worth that by a long shot. Montreal would definitely ask for a 1st and a prospect from Toronto because of the rivalry, but it wouldn’t be their top prospect. Montreal won’t get that return form anyone.

If you think that, then you’re calling the wrong people a joke - you should look in the mirror.

Habs fans can dream that all they want - still doesn’t make it reality.

A power forward this fast that can thrive the play with a great shot will always be extremely valuable. More than his production. Would you say Ryan Reaves is worth a 1st ? Yet he was traded for one in the past !! Stop looking at pure stats wink

I agree, which is why they shouldn't trade him.
Montreal has to want what you are offering more than they want Anderson. It might not be a top piece, but it has to at least be an intriguing one.
A 2nd and couple of relatively average players aren't going to cut it. If you want retention, you probably don't want him enough to make a good enough offer either.

I don’t think you both realize how bad his contract is. He’s not worth $5.5M long term, he had all the leverage in negotiations and Bergevin caved in and gave it to him. He’s highly, highly inconsistent.

I can almost guarantee you that no team in the league is going to give Montreal a 1st and a top prospect. Keep dreaming Habs fans. Keep dreaming.

I agreed with you. Why are you disagreeing with my agreement? Not clear?

He won't get a good offer because you have to value him more highly than Montreal (highly unlikely), take him at his full cap hit (somewhat unlikely), and offer something intriguing (difficult).
