while hes not worth a first, he has more value than last year, ignorance

His primary point production rate is almost unchanged, it's his secondary assists that are almost tripled. He is the same player getting a little boost from playing with ppg talent.

are you kidding me?
47 games 7 goals 14 apples 21points +6
meanwhile on TOR.
Muz
38 games 2 goals 10 apples 12 points -3
Costs 5 mil per tears of joy

Bordie
46 games 3 goals 8 apples 11 apples +9
costs 5 mil per.

You tell me, who's getting better value out their player, Pit on Matheson, or basically TOR on their whole defense

did you actually just compare matheson to 2 defensive defenseman using point totals? ahahaha

Bordie isn't a defensive defenseman. That tells me enough of your opinion right there.

just typing everything is "hilarious" doesn't really mean anything.
He's a 30-40 point defensemen when he's playing well.
believe me, he didn't magically not become an offensive guy.

please take other peoples opinions if youre gonna be that thick headed, make a poll, make 2 actually, if brodie is defence first or offence, and 2 whos better between brodie or matheson, truth be told its not really close, you dont know anything, stop acting like you do

you ask penguins fans if they would trade brodie for matheson 1 for 1 tell me what they say

lets be clear on it.
You shot off on matheson here, as if it was a bad player and bad contract.
Yet, the production is better than both your guys at a lower cap hit.

Honestly, how do you account for that?

you made a dumb comment regarding kerfoots 3.5 cap hit for another year but meanwhile you are paying Michael matheson over a million more for 4 more years then proceeded to compare him to 2 defensive defenseman using points trying to say hes better than both of them at a lower cap hit. but hes not lol, ill say it once more, you have no clue what you are talking about and your opinion means nothing.

dumb comment.
FFS, no one wants kerfoot.
how hard it that to come up with.
TOR fans have been peddling him on here for over a year, no one want him.

As far as Matheson, you go look at those stas. You go tell me what defensmen you are getting in FA that cost less than those returns at 4.8M
Meanwhile, you paid 5M for a defensemen, with 4 years term who was older, and you're getting less out of him acting like you got gold.
talk about clueless.

how many times does it have to be said that you dont compare defenseman especially ones who are defence first by offensive stats, thats basic peewee stuff youre clueless, ones making 5m playing on the first pair shutting down teams top opponents while playing first PK and on the ice defending a goal with the other teams goalie pulled, then you have matheson making only 250k less playing 3rd pairing minutes and no special teams at all, so the leafs are getting way more out of brodie if you wanna break it down, only argument you have is points because you dont know what youre talking about and its easy to look up points lol but for the 10th time, brodie is a d first defenseman

how many times you gonna refer to a guy who use to collect 40+ to 30+ points a season as a defensive defenseman LOL He's so defensive he was having years at -16.
he's old and broke.
He tanked out in CGY and they let that walk.
TOR picked him up hoping they'd get a 40 point blueliner, that didn't happen. But you are over here looking for excuses to knock Matheson who's been fire for the last 3 years.
more capfriendly opinions.
Just like they had on Guddy. Oh pens will pay a 1st to move him....played well in PIT, went to ANA for nothing ANA fans were like wow he's pretty solid. Now CGY got him and are like damn, Guddy has game.

this is why I don't listen to people on capfriendly, opining about things but can't come to reason.
Tell me. If Brodie so good, where are the numbers man. Don't tell me he's a defensive defenseman that's just BS and all the stats on his page prove that.
40 point player down to 20. Netted 1 goal last year, struggling to crack 20 points this year. But Matheson on there on a 10 goal pace for 3 years in a row.

tell me you dont watch the lefss without telling me you dont watch the leafs. how many times are you gonna refer to points !? he hasnt been an offensive d in like 3 years and is a defence first d. the only thing you have brought up is stats and literally nothing else.

"Looking at Evolving Hockey’s data, we can see how strong TJ Brodie has been defensively. Ranking in the 78th percentile according to their player cards, Brodie has been among the league’s best defensive players. He ranks 22nd in the league among defencemen in Evolving Hockey’s xGAR at even strength defence. He also ranks 35th among league defencemen (with a minimum of 500 minutes played) in xGA/60 with 2.02. Needless to say, TJ Brodie is pretty good at defending at 5v5."
