Regardless of what you think of him, Theodore will get you way more than that. You are underselling him here. Not that Toffoli is anything to sneeze at but not in the same value level.

I know Theodore is worth way more. I just think if Vegas has the choice to either give up Dadonov and a second for nothing in return, Martinez and a second for nothing, or Theodore for a player and a pick, they may end up choosing to get rid of Theodore. If cap wasn't an issue it would take a tremendous price to get Theodore.

There are teams who would trade for Martinez right now. Dadanov might need a sweetener simply to ensure no cap is coming back but my goodness, a 2nd round pick is wayyyy less hard to swallow than trading Theodore away just so you can get some value back.

Dadanov and a 2nd is not a big loss. Heck some teams may even send back a super cheap bottom 6 player to help fill the spot.

I think what the OP is saying is sure there would be a market for Martinez but not many of the teams who would be in the market have the cap to do it. So then you have to consider moving him at a loss cause Vegas can't take cap back either.

Might be move lower value for retention to gain extra value in a Martinez deal of that makes sense.
