Net effect of all this:
IF this new conglomerate of players fits well together and can generate the chemistry needed for a deep run...AND they don't get derailed by the injury bug (or COVID)....AND they don't run into a goalie who manages to outduel Shesty....then MAYBE this group gets 1 CRACK at hoisting the Cup around MSG. With 11M cap going into next year most of these guys will be packing come July.
What is CERTAIN is that this is an awful lot to risk for 1 shot at winning the Cup....because IF they don't win, for all their efforts the cupboard will once again be bare, with 1 pick in the first 3 rounds the next 2 years. While a few currently distant prospects will remain, just about all their Blue Chips will become building blocks for OTHER teams- including 2 (Schneider and Othmann) whom the scouts are absolutely drooling over. Unfortunately, I guess while the probability of raising the Cup (2022 only) does go up- a little bit- the probability goes through the roof of the odds that Drury and Dolan send the fanbase another letter- about the need to once again break it down to rebuild the right way!
