We have 15-16 games left before the NHL Trade deadline, actually one less because we play at Minnesota on March 21st and the deadline I believe is 300pm EST.
I don't care how creative the GMs can be but to keep Jack Eichel and Alex Martinex we will have to move a lot of players to possibly include: Smith, Dadanov, Janmark, Kolesar, Boissett, plus give up draft picks, 4-6. There is no way that they can work a single or even just two trades to account for all of the Cap $$ that has to move and to be able to field a competitive team during those games up to the deadline. Maybe a couple of big ones early then finalize the roster at deadline.
And in no way do I think we can sit Martines until the end of the regular season. Yes, we could possible win enough games to remain in 1st or 2nd place but it is a risk.
