Since the Leafs have cap room in the 2017/18 (not this lineup) why not use that leverage to get a UFA or get a good defenceman from a team with cap issues. Trading a potential star on ELC is no bargain for the Leafs.

No read my explanation. Leafs have NO reason to trade potential stars when they have cap room and their stars of their teams making are making relatively cheap more. The purpose of trade is the total value of a trade and not just one on one playing value.

Its just to compare values of to different positions so I could better understand the publics view on the trade values of certain players. As i said in my original description i dont want the leafs to trade nylander I wanted to test if people thought more of the Hall- Larson Trade or Seth Jones- Ryan Johanson trade. I wanted different views on the VALUE of players. Its just to COMPARE VAULE.

Interesting hockey trade, but Calgary isn't dealing defence. They went from Russell to Bartowski filling out the lineup. With Tkachuk and Ferland playing top minutes, an additional forward is not what they're looking for.
