Going to be a long offseason

Description
- Stuart sent down to wear a C for the Moose. Doubtful he's claimed off waivers.
- Deal with Vegas allows jets to keep someone their high on such as Lowry or Armia who aren't really anything special but vegas gets 2 NHL bodies as well as a pick. This also allows the jets to not have to ask Enstrom to waive his NMC.
-Smith couldn't reach a deal with DET (rumored he wanted 3.75) and Jets give him 4x4. Mason due to a goalie heavy market gets signed at a lesser rate to serve as a vet backup/mentor for Hellebuyck but they play more like a tandem (al la STL with Elliot and Allen)
-Jets D now healthy, and boasting a 3rd pairing of Enstrom/Myers which arguably should make them one of the best D-core in the league (on paper anyways reality always seems further off for the Jets)
-To the above point, Maurice fired in the off season and one of Sheldon Keeife or Travis Green is brought in because special teams and team discipline just can't get better under Maurice and this team needs a change.
-Connor Roslovic and Dano form a young, great 3rd scoring line for the Jets while Copp Lowry and Armia become a great 4th line (which is where they should be) which still has the potential to score and create offensively.

Detroit offered Smith 3 years @ $3.75 million and he wanted more sounds like he wants 4 years @ around $4.25 million. And though Smith is LHD he's pretty much played RD is entire career in Detroit.

Byfuglien should not see more time than Myers give Buff powerplay and 3rd line minutes he's way too big a liability on the back end

Really like the changes. I would like to see Buff's minutes dropped about 5 per game to make him more effective while on the ice. I'd love to see TNSE take a run at trying to get Hitchcock as the new coach. Whoever they get, he needs to have a proven defensive system that works. This team will score goals. They just need to support their goaltenders better before they lose confidence.

I don't understand this masochist culture the Jets exude. Your goalie situation sucks, so you sign mason? This team needs a legitimate #1 starter, Hellebuyck is not ready yet. Darling is a UFA and has played great. all his numbers suggest he's ready to make the transition. Give him 5 mil and you're a playoff team.

Or keep doing this weird thing where you delude yourself that everything will be fine and be satisfied with the one trade Chevy makes a decade. This team has too much talent to play like they have

Jets don't need a #1 Goalie Helley's numbers are as good as any of the available starters on a team that's no where near as good. Why pay 6M for Bishop for 5+ years, or any other absurd amount. What the Jets needs is to stay healthy, sign a defensively responsible D guy (Smith) and a decent backup who's going to post better numbers that 7-12-3 with .903 and a 2.96GAA. That .903 is also inflated over the last 3 starts he's gotten. Jets just need a solid vet backup who's not going to be a CAP problem in 3 years when Laine, Trouba, Morrisey, Ehlers, Connor, Roslovic etc. start making big money

Fair enough. I honestly think this team will be in cap hell regardless. Its only natural when you draft so many 1st round picks who all perform well. This team is going to have seven or eight 6M+ guys soon. I think You might have to kiss Wheeler good bye in free agency because he's going to deserve a raise also. Same goes with Little.
