He is younger and faster and just as prolific a scorer 5v5 as Joe at this point in their carriers. He doesn't need a spot on the 1st PP unit like Pavelski would in order to score a lot of goals. There is a chance he could be more than a rental, depending on what Drury does with Strome. Plus, Gallant knows him, likes him, and would know how best to use him right off the bat. How is that?

Gallant knowing how to use him is the only thing you said that convinces me. The best thing about Pavelski is his two way game. Moreover, if he had to be put on the power play to score lots of goals, I don’t see how that would be a bad thing…

It's a bad thing because Kreider has the job he would take, and Kreider is better it that he is, so Pavelski would not get PP time.
