Things are looking like they are back to normal before tomorrow's game. Marner is still on LTIR and hasn't been activated yet but if he's to play against Ottawa tomorrow, the Leafs will have to make a decision on passing someone through waivers today.

Seems like a cap decision is coming soon.

Or we can all just pray for a Ritchie knee sprain (something that lasts 10 games).

I haven't looked in awhile, but does a Ritchie demotion get them cap compliant with a 21 man roster (once Liljegren clears COVID protocol).

I gotta think the fact he's looking like a healthy scratch tomorrow is a clear step in that direction.

For tomorrow's game, the Leafs need to make about $783,116 of cap space to activate Marner off LTIR. RItchie through waivers would create $1,050,000. Liljegren would be the 21st man on the roster in this case. Covid protocols doesn't change his cap hit at all.

If they don't see him as 1 of their 12 best forwards when healthy, I gotta think a demotion is coming soon.

They may demote Liljegren today/tomorrow in order to delay that decision another couple of days, but I'm thinking 7 dmen when all are healthy is way more likely than 13 forwards.
