If we’re out of the running by the TDL, and he’s proving he’s top 6 C material, trade Scheifele for a top 6 RW.

If he shows solid play at C. I’m all for Scheifele being trade bait, if they could acquire a top 6 RW for him that would be unreal. If the jets are out of the playoffs by the TDL the jets need to make a core change. Probably Copp or scheifele that needs to go.

I think Scheifele should be the one to go. Core and culture change all in one.
It might be just me reading into things, but I sense Scheifele and Wheeler are a force in the dressing room and if you don’t play by their rules, they make things hard.
Like I said… might be just me reading things that aren’t there, but…

Copp said they already spoke about long term deals during the summer so yeah likely they know what he wants and could be a deal in place. As for Scheifele, I agree about the culture change comment. I’ve always viewed scheifele as a bit of a princess. He’s typically seen not back checking, looks uninterested a lot and seems like he has that dynamic with wheeler you talk about. I mean we’ve seen issues arise within the last 3-4 years that have been linked to wheeler. The laine situation, plus apparently there were some issues with byfuglien even involving a closed door meeting.

So maybe we are reading into it too much, or maybe we’re not. Either way a culture change could be exactly what the teams needed for a while. With a new coach it could definitely be coming. I just hope Chevy isn’t too loyal too scheif and wheeler cause it could cost him his job in the end. He’s a great GM 95% of the time and does an incredible job with his scouting staff.

Probably Necas+ imo. Carolina could lose Trochek after this season.
