I will say that personally I think the Holtby and Debrusk trades are an overpay, but this is probably what ultimately gets the deal done. In the Chychrun deal, they are asking for 2 firsts. In this trade, they get a 1st, a 2nd, a former 1st, a former 2nd, and Kassian as a cap dump. Im sure if the trade didnt include Kassian the price would just be Broberg + a 1st, but i gotta get rid of Kassian to make the deal work.
Callups for the playoffs would be Holloway, Marody, Turris on F; Lagesson, Niemelainen on D; and Skinner in Goal.
I think adding Chychrun fixes the blue line nicely. It fixes the 2LD hole while also being a player that can compliment Barrie. I think that if we have him, theres no real need for Broberg. Id much rather take Chychrun than Broberg atm, especially at that price point.
Holtby is an upgrade on Koskinen for the year and nothing more. Honestly I would be okay with keeping Koskinen for the rest of the year as I dont think this will be that huge of an upgrade for the price point. That being said, an upgrade in goal would definitely help the team.
The final spot that needs upgrading is the 3rd line. The Oilers have been tied to Debrusk for a while, so I think this would be a good fit for the 3rd line. Im not completely sold on it being the best available use of our 2nd round pick, but i wouldnt hate the move.
