Everyone points out how MTL made it to finals when talking about how bad they are.


No one points out who they lost.

Price and Weber out long-term (amongst the million other injuries). Lost KK and danault. I don't know what the Habs brass thought would happen but this isn't purely Bergevin's fault. I think the Habs wouldn't surprise me if they jumped back to a playoff team next season.

Still irks me that they benched Tatar for almost the entire playoff run, they really could've at least subbed him in for a few games after that first series.

if everyone came back healthy next year, playoffs wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility. However, I think when you look at the roster they have, it screams mediocracy. Would seem like a good time to blow things up and slightly rebuild with Wright Bedard and Michkov all available in the next 2 years. Especially since the fans got to witness an amazing finals run, they're now charged up for a couple years of no playoffs now.

Vegas did the same thing after giving up a boatload for him at the deadline, then dumped him the next season. Must be an issue?

Maybe. I mean, the Wings let him wallow in the AHL for 4 seasons before finally giving him a rookie season, so maybe teams just find it funny to keep him in suspense.

I think it's a roster in flux, that is a lot of change and they need time to gel. I'm curious to see who they end up hiring, we will then see if they are willing to rebuild on the fly or take a year off to really build the team up. Both are understandable options in my opinion.
