If we do deal Hampus at the deadline (and I really hope that we don't), we have Simon Benoit and Josh Mahura pencilled in for the last 20 games (with Jakob Larsson as a fill-in); I doubt that we'd make a replacement acquisition until the off-season.

We're talking about What If management makes the decision to trade Hampus away . . . my point is that we have a stopgap, not that Benoit and Mahura are permanent nos. 2 and 3 on the left. We'd have to have a plan for next season pretty much in mind before letting Hampus go.

He's only 28, so I wouldn't mind something in the under-$7-million range for 5 or 6 years. $6.5 x 5 would be ideal, in my mind.

If Flyers sell, and Rangers cap is tight next year....it would make more sense to add Giroux. No idea if Flyers would ever trade him to us...pretty sure their fans would not be happy about that.

Rangers would have to completely blow the Flyers away with the deal for Flyers fans to be okay with a Giroux deal. Giroux is going to a Canadian team or Western Conference if he's dealt this year. I think the Wild have the best pieces for Philly, but unsure if they want to do it or not.
