Sharks don’t need another goalie and they aren’t taking back that much salary when they are retaining half of Kane’s salary.

He's a deadline rental. Someone will take him at $1.75m for the rest of the year. His style of game is playoff hockey and there have been far worse players return a 3rd rounder at the deadline lol

I think Varlamov would be an established, improved option over Hill/Reimer. They would move one of those guys in a subsequent move. Regardless, I don't think there is anyone in the league with less trade value than Kane right now. I'd do Bailey for Kane at 50%. But why not take Varly? Flip him if you want to. Isles would just trade him separately for a pair of 2nd rounders.

No not Kovy specifically. If you took a look at basically any trade deadline and I bet you find a trade that looks like "UFA rental who plays a playoff style of hockey for mid round pick"

Your right. Btw I live on Long Island and the kids who are islanders fans at school and my teacher complain a lot. They don’t realize that trotz isn’t playing the young guns and the team just doesn’t have goal scoring. They have play making

Honestly I think Joakim Kemmel is there best option due to the fact they need high end wingers.

Have you seen Reimers numbers this year? Varlamob isn’t an upgrade and I don’t think your getting that much for him if you try and move him.

Finnish connection to Raty? Sure why not lol. I'm not gonna pretend to know much about the prospects other than Wright

To an extent that's fair. Trotz doesn't give younger players the same length of leash as his vets. Wahlstrom should be on the top line and Salo has to be in the lineup regularly. I can't blame Trotz for not giving guys like Bellows or Koivula more ice time because they outright stink. I would have liked to see Golyshev get a game during this covid outbreak. Isles need the Pageau/Palmieri/Parise of the world to start scoring as well. Defense isn't contributing on the stat sheet. Injuries/covid. It's a little bit of everything and it's been a recipe for disaster

I want nothing to do with Kane. And to be honest, Varly to the right team can get us a 1st rounder at the deadline.

Yes I am on LI. I don't hate the Palmieri signing. It was smart at the time and Lou can't see the future. Lou kept the fourth line in tact because he knew Cizikas was coming back on a sweetheart of a deal AAV wise and he could replace Eberle or Bailey with Palmieri. Eberle's performance in Seattle has been great but he's not being asked to play a defensive 200ft game. No way he has these numbers here. And with our luck this season, he probably would have been out with Covid too. Palms will not be at a 3% shooting percentage all year. He will improve and schematically plays a better role on a Trotz team than Eberle did.

Lou's one mistake was not replacing Leddy with a puck mover. Chara was cool at the time. I thought he was going to rotate in with Greene and they'd each get about 40 games with Dobson on the third pair. I would do the Leddy trade over again 100x. We were going to lose him to expansion, plus he netted the pick that gave us Aatu Raty. It's just finding a better replacement that Lou gaffed on

I don't love Kane either but at that price you could get rid of him if it didn't work. I'd like to believe he knows he's on his last strike and the Isles room should be able to straighten him out.

I think Varly is traded by the summer to give Sorokin the 1A duties. He may fetch a first with an extension. I'm not sure who forks over a 1st at this deadline though unless there is a legit contending team who has an inconveniently timed injury to their goalie and they have no choice but to pay up

I’m in bayshore. Also very well said. The only problem I have with Kyle is the numbers he puts up but over time that will change. Well said

Trotz is one of the few coaches who could take a Kane and keep him in check! but i would do Bailey Kane 50%, no need for another Goalie both of ours are great team guys and playing very well for us!
    Reimer 2.04 GGA 934 S% and Hill 2.58 GAA 908 S%.
not many coaches or teams could ask for better Goalie tandem!!! especially when both are signed this year and next for a combined 4.24 mil. that’s less than most mediocre starting net-minders in the league.
