17/18 Duchene

Description
Read Trade - Gives Vegas a 3rd line winger that allows them to take a prospect from another team instead of filling out the NHL roster.
Neuvirth Trade - If Miller doesn't get selected by Vegas...gives Boston a legit backup goalie and the Flyers a serviceable RHD.
Avs Trade - Get a potential top 4 LHD (which they need), a 3rd line shut down C (Avs would be deep down the middle with Mac/Patrick or Hischier and Couts) plus a 1st (5-10 range likely)

I think you meant to put in a first yet you put in a second by accident? If it is a first you give to Colorado, the deal does fit in perfectly with what Sakic wants. The other things are also all realistic IMO.

    oops. Edited now.

It is an overpay, a 2nd Rounder is more likely.

Is Duchene really that much better than Couturier? So far this year, he only has 14 more points than Couturier and is only 1% better on his Shooting% this year. I think that if Sakic really wants to get rid of Duchene, he would be willing to take Couturier and Sanheim straight with no extra draft pick.

Duchene is a much better player than Couturier. You don't hear Couturiers name come up for Team Canada, but Duchene has already played. The Avs depth is awful so putting Duchene with some skilled players would make a big difference. Duchene can put up 60-70 points, Couts tops out at 40.

Giroux didn't make TEAM CANADA so Duchence > Giroux - that logic is messed up..... come on now.

Duchene tho has had ample time on the TOP PP unit in COL.

    HUGE difference.

Duchene has NOT had to face the opposing teams TOP LINES all the time.

Duchene has a much higher percentage O zone start/shift than Coots in their one ice histories.

Coots could hit 50 on the top PP for sure, as well he is a beast defensively.

On top of that, you give away Sanhiem (I know it's a potential thing here - but you do realize what he has done in Jr's and how he has looked in the AHL, right?).

The Flyers 5v5 play is horrid, if they improve there, they'll be okay. Grabbing Duchene to make them better there won't work, esp giving up a guy in Coots that has to shut down top lines while on the ice. Doesn't make sense.

LMFAO! Actually Giroux did make team Canada.

Thinking Couts will ever hit 50 points is just plain stupid. He is a shut down player and that is it!

It goes to show you are a quantity type poster here.... Giroux was NOT on the Olympic roster.... yes the WC one, but not on the Olympic, so my point is vaild.

ALSO, Coots not reaching 50 pts as stupid? If you knew more about hockey and TOI and situational play you wouldn't have commented that way. The way to spoke only speaks to you and your lack of knowledge in how the players would be used. Sad really. I would suggest doing some more homework in that department and really break down the 'whys' of the trades/ideas you have.

I know this is a fantasy board but come on, the LMFAO and 'stupid' comments........ give some facts/arguments on to the why and then maybe you would have some credibility to your posts not just quantity.

Apparently you struggle to read since I did show my explainations in description. I like to use the most recent Team Canada as a reference since that makes the most sense. As for your "if he played in the right situation" blah blah blah, ya sure if every player in they NHL played in the perfect situation they would all thrive. Couturier is a great shut down player, he is not Toews though. 50 points will not happen in his career. Do you watch any games? I watch every game and he just doesn't have it.

Revisit this post when Coots hits 50pts. Didn't call him Toews.... How many minutes does Toews play per game? How much time does he get on the PP? You really are a quantity type.

'blah blah blah' - there you go again.

That may work in life for you right now... don't expect to get by on that tho. Maturation comes to us at different times in life.

Never seen a game yet, hope to, one day.

There is a reason why he doesn't see the minutes or PP time a guy like Toews does! Toews plays against the top line of every team just like Couturier. The difference is that Toews has offensive talent where Couts is limited and that's why he is a 3rd line C! He was a 2nd line C for stretches this year and still didn't put up numbers so your argument is flawed.

NOW.... did you know Coots has payed some of the hardest minutes in the NHL since he has played?

He ALSO has played on avg 2+ mins LESS than Toews in his career per game..... with a HUGE diffence on WHERE he starts on the ice.... you are TRYING to tell me.... that Coots WILL NOT make up those last 11 pts over the course of the season to hit 50....

Dirty, you have some work to do to show me you know what it is you are talking about..... look forward to an intelligent response.

My Toews comparison is showing what an actually talented 2 way player can do, Couts is all defence. The reason Toews gets so many O zone starts is because he is offensively gifted. Opposite is true for Couts, he isn't talented enough offensively to warrant o zone starts.

    The issue remains.

Can you show how he is better offensively ?

I can show you how Coots and Toews are VERY close 5v5, that takes into account the zone starts as they are..... just imagine in an alternate world Coots got those O zone starts..... wow... he might be able to produce offensively. Instead of always starting in his own zone to create..... imagine....

I would bet that if Toews was given the assignments Coots had had in his career his numbers wouldn't be as good as they are right now. They'd be down in production (as they would for just about ANY player in the NHL)....but someone like yourself knows that.... I mean, look at how much thought and depth you've shown here.

Toews does get the assignments Couts does!! That is the point! He plays against the best players on the other team just like Couts. How is that hard to understand?
