Early in the season there were 5 times that I saw players on the Wings get boarded without penalties, I even made a list of who the boarders/boardees were. At this point I'm starting to just accept that the NHL doesn't care about calling cross checks or boarding, but it sucks. As a neutral party on the Crosby one, I can see suspension material there. It's interference as well as an unnecessary use of force. More of a Hulk Smash than a traditional board, but it still shouldn't be allowed IMO.

Not a fan. Saad is doing exactly what he was just signed for, and despite the progress that Matheson has shown, I wouldn't want that contract on the books for 4 more years.

I think the Blues would probably prefer Pettersson over Matheson by a decent margin, because of the style difference. And the offer isn;t bad out of context, but meh, I'd probably just keep Saad myself.

Good in principle, the value is close but I think PIT upgrades the pick or adds another. What I've seen from STL fans on this site suggests that they wouldn't be too keen on moving Saad, and Matheson's value in the public eye is next to none because of the length of his contract, but actual GMs may see that as contract certainty instead of being a long term cap dump. Overall, good trade, at least from where I see it.

Yeah, Matheson has been good but the term is what kills it. Pettersson has been great so far this year so I dont think we would move him

Blues say no. They literally just signed him this summer at a reasonable price. Would only make sense if you substituted Saad for Scandella + and even then its questionable. Matheson is on a bad contract and is not a top-paring shutdown dman. Dumoulin is the only defenseman I could see the Blues targeting (without Scandella going the other way) and I highly doubt the Penguins move him.
