Yeh Winnipeg isn't making that deal. Not a slight on Reilly just Trouba has been a beast this year. I think they'll find a way to sign him long term.

I know Rielly is struggling but I wouldn't pull that deal from the Leafs perspective, Rielly is signed to a good contract and is a team leader

I wouldn't either....given the intangibles. Trouba has questionable character and with the lack of a contract why would they trade cost controlled Reilly for the uncertainty of Trouba. It would be Winnipeg adding to get the deal done.

Not having a horse in the race, I think I would take Reilly over Trouba.

Isn't Trouba under team control on his next contract? Plus, the "character" stuff is garbage, I completely blame his agent. Sounds like he's a good teammate and a hard worker. He played his way to the top of the log-jam at his position, what more can you ask for?

What if he signed an extension upon the trade?

Winnipeg could use a left handed dman, Toronto could use the right handed dman. All in all, the two are somewhat equal when you consider everything

I agree, but Reilly has been a beast for Toronto too, even if he is under lots of scrutiny from the press. Reilly is the guy killing all of their penalties and playing against opponents top lines. He also had a big year last year, when he put up lots of points too. Hes not getting that many points this year as his shifts always seem to start in the defensive zone. So while Trouba has been vital to Winnipeg, Reilly has been much the same to Toronto.
