With this contract I would counter offer Klingberg + Tufte for Marner and your Robertson.

Unless Marner explodes in the coming weeks, good luck in trading him for high end asset and 100% of his contract.

Did you actually check his contract? At this point, Marner is owed $24.8 million for the balance of this season and the next three seasons. $6.2 million AAV strikes me as bargain-basement for a player of his calibre.

It’s nearly 11M$ on the Cap. Just look at what this does to the Leafs in terms of leverage to surround their players with strong assets.

In adding him, he would then be in the same situation with 30M$ tied up in 3 forwards. This with Hintz, Gurianov and other players needed to be signed.

Maybe it’s a « good » deal money wise, but it’s not Cap wise.

I was merely addressing your comment about his "contract," a term which is more encompassing than "cap hit." Yes, I agree completely this makes no sense for the Stars, because the only way that you guys could fit Marner in would be to send Klingberg, Hintz and Gurianov back to Toronto (all your other big-ticket guys have NMCs or NTCs).
