Even if the Hurricanes had interest in Eichel, I do not know who with Carolina the Sabres would have interest.

The Sabres had issues of acquiring quality assets in return in trades pre-Kevyn Adams. They will not have that problem for some time. Any team wanting Eichel will have to offer a quantity of quality assets ot the Sabres.

When can they not afford it? They have 8.8 mill on IR right now so if Eichel was healthy by the olympics he'd easily fit in and next year they have 26 mill to spend, with only Necas needing a significant contract

Jarvis isn’t getting traded. Suzuki might end up getting traded but I honestly don’t know. Bokk is now very likely not to be traded due to the canes cap situation for next year, as he would likely take 3LW from Nino. Eichel is very likely not to be on LTIR at all for the duration of the 22-23 season unless he gets injured again, so the LTIR condition for the pick doesn’t make sense, as Eichel will probably be able to play at the very least after the Olympic break. The condition should probably instead be something like it Eichel plays x amount of games in the 21-22 regular season, the pick remains a first. If not the pick is downgraded to a 2nd or a 3rd depending on the rest of the package. As it stands right now, BUF probably gets 3 first round equivalents and a cap dump for Eichel, as there is too much risk and unknowns. BUF is very unlikely to get a teams top prospect unless a the team acquiring Eichel has the guarantee that Eichel will be the same player he was before he got injured. Until a trade is finalized, we can only speculate and argue, and I think that Eichel will not end up being a hurricane.
