2018 Leafs with Upgraded D. Does ANA do this trade?

Description
ANA needs to make a move pre expansion. Bieksa waives his no trade and they get 2 excellent assets that can be used to help on LW. They are deep on young D men.

Alzer signs an stabalizes our left depth. Just take a look at those pairs too. Manson is the perfect D partner for Rielly. This will propel Rielly to be a top pairing guy. Bieksa is a great depth player in case of injury and can be sent down (burried) if needed.

Our forward group is 3 lines that can score and play like very good second lines. Foruth line is solid too

I think you're ripping off the leafs with the Bieksa trade, he's not the player he was back with the 2011 Canucks, trading away a 1st Rounder and one of our higher level prospects for a bad contract and another Defenseman with little offensive upside. Other than that this looks pretty decent smile

I like Manson but don't know if he's worth a first and a prospect. What does NMC Bieska signify? Not Moving from California.

I really don't see Anaheim parting with Manson... I wish they would. I think he would be good with Reilly. I think signing Alzner would be huge and having a deeper blueline is necessary.

Alzner 5.5 for 5? please no. Don't think you guys realize how much Matthews/Marner/Nylander are gonna get once they're off their ELC's. If anything overpay someone on a 2 year deal

I'd rather give up this years 1st considering its a weaker draft btw,

It's actually not that bad. Gardiner's contract is up at the same time as Marner and Matthews so that 5.5 is less than 1.5M over the current situation when the time comes. And for a significantly better defence that is more than worth it. And I agree that this year's draft is going to be weekend than next's but next year's pick will most definitely be lower, so it's kind of pick your poison.

I agree, I love Manson (reference hit on JVR) but he's not worth a 1st and our top defensive prospect. And Beiksa will lift his NMC for Vegas but definitely not Toronto. He knows how bad it gets in Vancouver and that Toronto is worse...

Agree with you Jim about Alzner and implications later. Folks see cap space and just go crazy trying to fit.....like Brian Burke. Surely Lou can find better value on defence that spending 5.5m on Alzner. I rather try to find a RHD (if possible). LHD is where the Leafs have prospects. Apparently the Capitals will be having cap problems next problem. Rather that they just give us Orpik, Leafs take on his 5.5m for two years and then decide who they want/need in two years when Gardiner and Orpik are UFAs.
