Why would he get any more than a buryable contract though? But yes I'd like it, especially in case Marody or Benson are ever lost in waivers. Skill insurance for the bottom 6.

I imagine there are a number of teams willing to extend Galchenyuk a PTO. We'll see if he chooses to attend Edmonton's camp. His presence would certainly increase the level of intrigue among the bottom eight forwards.

Galchenyuk PTO talk is probably related to the fact Yamamoto hasn't signed yet. It's good to have insurance if you're missing a skill player.

I think edmonton is trying to work the rumormill. With the way the LTIR works Yamamoto needs to be signed by day 1 of the season or he can't play for edmonton this year.

At the very least it would put a ceiling on his contract to 1.125Million.

As long as they're right at the $81.5M cap (with 20 players) when they place Klefbom on LTIR, they'll be able to go over the cap by $4.167M at any time during the season.

There isnt a compliment of players that can get them over 80.5 Million cap Utilization on Day 1.

Sure there is. You have to remember Klefbom's $4.167M is still on the cap at that point. They'll have to demote a bunch of guys to get down to $81.5M (including Klefbom).

They have to get under the cap including Klefbom unless they're using offseason LTIR (which is unlikely).
