The last thing Vancouver needs is to add another bottom 6 winger and the last thing Toronto needs is a fringe NHL/AHL left handed defence... that deal makes absolutely zero sense for both sides.

Leafs could use dumping the cap and Juolevi had a high upside at one point. I could see the Leafs taking a gamble like this on a cap move. Juolevi isn't waiver exempt though so the Canucks would likely have to pass him through to start with.

It’s been said that the Canucks would like to get another Russian to help Podkolzin adapt to Canada better. No the leafs may not need another LD although they are in abit of a cap crunch n 750k for 7th Dman would fit nicely into there cap also this opens that spot for Jack as prob Olli ain’t going to live up to expectations here in Vancouver

Canucks could actually use another fourth line PK guy. They only have 11 nhl level forwards. Leafs could use the 900k cap savings

Highmore is the same type of player as Mikheyev and he's cheaper. Not to mention guys like Gadjovich or Dries in the minors who can fill the same role. Plus Vancouver only has about $13M in cap space in sign Pettersson and Dickinson so adding cap is stupid for the Canucks.

Leafs straight up don't need left handed defence. They already have Rielly, Brodie, Muzzin, Dermott, Sandin, Dahlstrom, and Kivihalme who would all be ahead of Juolevi on the depth chart. He's a bust. & Toronto needs guys like Mikheyev for the PK more than they need an AHL defenceman. So again, doesn't make sense for Toronto at all.

Mikheyev is far better and more proven than guys like highmire, dries, and Gadjovich. He’d be a way better piece for the bottom 6 in Vancouver. As for the cap space, I’m not sure if you noticed but this AGM as all 3 of Pettersson, Dickinson, and Hughes signed with a 23 man roster and it so cap compliant. Adding mikheyev is not a problem at all cap wise…

Juolevi isn't a bust, he's a 23 year old defenseman who has had trouble finding his game. A investment in the future rather than the now. Let's see, who does that sound like that Dubas has invested in? You can probably find dozens of examples in just the last few seasons. Holl, Galchenyuk, Ho-Sang this season, etc. It's exactly the type of player that Dubas has a history of giving a 2nd chance.

& in acquiring any of those players, please name 1 NHL skater that Dubas gave up to get them.. there literally are none.

Mason Marchment to get Dennis Malgin, Par Lindholm to get Petan,

Malgin wasn't seen as an "investment piece" (hence why he only played 8 games with the Leafs and none with the Marlies), and giving up Marchment wasn't giving up a NHL player because he was someone that Toronto was never gonna use, Dubas moved him to give him a shot at a NHL career (and let's be honest, he's barely a NHL player, he's helped by his linemates considerably) - so sorry, not a good example.

And Petan definitely wasn't a "investment piece" or reclamation project or whatever. Dubas saw him as a NHL player but Babcock was stubborn and didn't. Lindholm hadn't even played a full season in Toronto, and when he did he was on the 4th line - hard to call that a NHL player of any kind. But good effort though.

Petan? ... it was well known for a long time that Dubas wanted Petan in the lineup but Babcock said no because he didn't suit his style for a 4th liner but Dubas wanted him higher in the lineup. But hey, if you wanna consider Lindholm an NHL player.. be my guest.

Today I've learned that a guy who's played 100 NHL games under 3 different teams isn't an NHL player.

At the time of the trade, Lindholm wasn't a regular player in the lineup for Toronto and only played 61 games for them. He was then traded and played only 4 for Winnipeg. After signing with Boston, he again wasn't a regular in the lineup and played only 40 games that season followed by 1 the next season which was his last in the NHL. He was 27 when he played his first NHL game and was out of the league by the time he was 29.

So how in the world do you consider a guy who played less than 2 seasons in the league, and was barely in the lineup when he was in the league, a NHL player? Just because a guy plays games in the NHL doesn't mean he's a NHL player.

Stefan Matteau has played 91 career games across 6 seasons. Does that make him a NHL player too? Give your head a shake kid.
