Copp trades to Detroit have been floating around all day, and I've been a big fan of him coming to Detroit. This is the only way I would like to see it happen though.
One of the Washington or Islanders trade should happen first to give Detroit extra picks to play with. Then they could trade a couple seconds along with a roster player or two to Winnipeg.
I set it up as two seconds, Stetcher and Namestnikov going to Winnipeg for Copp and Stanley. I think there is just no room on the left side for Stanley and Detroit could use more LD for next season.
Retention could probably be added to Namestnikov to make it more appealing for the Jets.
In the end the Jets recoup second round picks for the next two years, get a solid third pairing RD in Stetcher, replace Copp with a solid third liner in Namestnikov that can play any position. I wouldn't say the Jets are better for this season but I wouldn't say they are much worse and gained a couple picks.
Detroit gets a hometown boy in Copp who can play on their middle six, still young enough to be a part of their future and could maybe get more opportunities higher up in the line up. Stanley gives them a big solid option for those year and next with team control for a few more years.
