Wheres the good? I only see Buffalo being robbed blind, while somehow gaining cap

So Buffalo gets Krebs and a first, for Jack Eichel. That's a robbery. Plus a 5 million dollar cap hit for 5 years.

A 5 million dollar retention for 5 years alone has a higher value then a 1st and a top prospect.

Krebs, Patrick, Strome, 1st, 2- 2nd rounders isn't enough? For a guy who won't play over half the season? Man..... that's steep

Krebs - 17th overall
Patrick - 2nd overall
Stome - 3rd overall
1st round pick 2022
2nd round pick 2022
2nd round pick 2022 ALL FOR A GUY THAT HAS NO GUARANTEE TO PLAY THIS SEASON.... YES.... You're right that's not enough!

So we have:

2 - 1st RD
3 - 2nd RD
1 - 3rd RD

Plus they are Retaining Cap for 5 Years.. Buffalo Wants the equivalent of four 1st RD Picks. You're giving them Maybe 3 in total and asking them to eat half the cap for no extra cost

Retaining Salary for year one only.

Also,
Buffalo isn't going to get 4 1st rounders. The ask is far too high for a guy who probably won't play most of the season.

If they retain all the years, Then I completely understand asking for the world.

I am not sure I agree with the trade and the value for teams, but amen to the fact that what the Sabres are asking for, no one is paying right now. They need him (Eichel) to get back on the ice, lower their asking price or let this saga continue until trade deadline and hope someone is desperate and will meet the Sabres high demands.

I don't believe you can retain on a year by year basis. If you retain any % it's for the duration of the contract.

Also, I'm sorry but Strome is not a first round talent. He's turned into a good NHL player that could still bust out, but he's not where his draft position dictates his worth.
BUF has no interest in Shaw. In fact, he'd be better suited to go to Vegas in this deal, cause they could use the LTIR relief. BUF woun't be close to the cap, so this is just wasted actual money for a retired player.
Patrick is one "head down across the blueline" away from being completely removed from the NHL. Once again, another player that has not lived up to his draft position.
Connolly is an average NHLer.

Honestly, Vegas could just cut out Chicago here and make the deal with the players they've offered. All CHI is doing is giving up unwanted players and clearing cap to bring on better one.

Honestly, Buffalo will not retain 50%, that would be so stupid! If they retain 1.5-3 million that’s more reasonable. I like the return to Buffalo though, good young players with huge upside and some good picks. Maybe add another 1st

Strome and Patrick to not have 2nd and 3rd Overall Potential lol, That's like saying Brayden Points value is a 3rd RD pick cause thats where he was selected...
