As a pens fan either works. matheson was pretty good last year but id trade.

Is the deal basically the same depending on which defender? And are your swapping Stetcher with Namestnikov or are those just straight up the deals you are offering?

As a Detroit fan I think I would like to see the first one, less term, getting something back of value.

Assuming Staal would waive his NMC I'd do the Staal trade. Matheson was solid for the Pens and right now they need more forward depth than anything, so I think the Pettersson/Staal deal suits the Pens best.

It's one of the two deals as they're proposed.

The idea is to avoid having only Oesterle on the LD next season as I don't see two of the prospects ready for primetime. I would try to resign Leddy for two more years but even if that doesn't work and he has to be traded I would in both of these two scenarios end up with one open spot on LD and I'd be happy for the prospects to rotate in and play 20 games each.

Would that change if the deal was at the TDL?

That would work fine if Leddy can be resigned, but if he won't resign we'll be very weak on LD in 22/23. I can't see either Pettersson or Oesterle playing 1st pair.
