so you cant get a similar player so you get a much worse one for him? Where is the logic there? Bratt isnt like marner at all, he's a 30 point 2nd liner with middling defensive impacts. He wouldnt have chemistry with matthews, if anything he'd have to be carried by him.
and suddenly advanced stats are subjective? Dude, you used em to champion a guy and suddenly when they dont line up with that they are subjective?
Bratt has never even been a 40-50 guy, and if he can become that then Marner can become a 150-170 guy

Analytics are 100% subjective. Decent analytics on a bad team say something - which Bratt has. Devils have been terrible for a few years. This adversely affects metrics.

I am well aware Matthews would carry Bratt. But your statement infers that Marner can carry a line - and there I am not sold. Matthews without Marner is actually better analytically. Same with JT. Yet you argue Marner is all that. Hence, analytics are subjective.

The error on most Leafs fans is in thinking Marner is going to net another Marner. So a deal with the Devils that would be Hirscher or Hughes. No GM will do that for an overpriced winger. Leafs fans need to accept that any deal involving Marner means replacing him with a "lesser player" and balancing the rest of the roster with the remaining cap money.

How it will happen and needs to happen.

No, the error people have with marner is that they think players like bratt are even remotely worth him in a trade return because hes like 1.5 mill over paid on his worst day.
Everyone fully expects a lesser player coming back, but not a 3rd liner. There is a significant gap between those two points and Bratt does not cut it.
You dont attain balance by putting all the weight on the other end because then you end up get murdered in a trade and having a worse team.
This trade is horrible value for the leafs and there is zero way getting around that

Bratt doesn't play on the 3rd line, but whatever.

And Marner is $2.5 million overpaid. Proved that 2 years ago.

You may have your opinion...... I have mine.
