After trading Arvidsson and Ellis, I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop with this team. I wonder if Eichel is holding everything up with bigger name players like Ekholm, Forsberg, and Tarasenko.

7x7ish? He’s still relatively young so he’ll probably want term. Not sure what his comps line up as or what the economics of the league will be next offseason but I think that’d be a reasonable expectation

Would need 50% on Forsberg contract for this year. Also don't know how we can fit Rielly and Forsberg extensions

You are absolutely insane if you think you get that from the Leafs. You might get a 1st rounder some salary back like Kerfoot and a b-level prospect. Amirov and an extra 2nd is crazy.

I get that TOR doesn't have the cap space to make any moves, but that is an awful counter proposal NSH wouldn't consider.

Leafs wouldn't even consider giving up their 2nd best prospect and an additional 1st and 2nd for Forsberg, come on man, Wake up!

Like I said, I get that TOR can't afford to be in the running for pretty much anyone, never mind a player like Forsberg. I was just pointing out your counter was terrible from NSH's perspective. They're not going to trade their best player with an extension, for a mid 1st, a slightly overpaid 3rd liner they don't have a spot for, and a meh prospect.

NSH wants to re-sign Forsberg, not trade him. If TOR were trying to pry him way from the Preds, it starts with a 1st and a top prospect. NSH isn't going to hand him over for some scraps, just to be neighbourly.

That's fair, I am just saying that you won't get that for Forsberg.

It's not my proposal, and I agree that the Leafs shouldn't be in the market for Forsberg. I don't think it's an unreasonable ask though. Assuming the contract extension isn't exorbitant, a 1st, 2nd, a prospect with 1st round value, and a less than desirable contract to make the cap work for the buying team seems pretty fair for Forsberg. I think several teams would be interested at that price, just not the Leafs.

Not really. Holmstrom was nevwr the equivelant of a 1st that was a big reach by LL. But even so I wouldnt do this deal. There was a thread (idk which one) where a bunch of isles fans and villenash figured out a deal for ekholm. It was less than this.

You can't compare a #1 defensemans value with a top 6 forward. It is not the same what so ever. I am absolutely not being biased here. Just go back and look at the trade history of defenseman in the mold of Rielly compared to top 6 wingers like Forsberg instead of making up some agenda against me.

Rielly isnt a number 1 dman anymore sorry. Did he used to be? Most certainly. But rn he is not a number 1 dman anymore.

What planet are you living on? He is a number one defenseman period. That is not up for discussion. Are there better defenseman in the NHL than Rielly? absolutely, but saying that he isn't a number one guy is just ignorant man. This take comes from someone that doesn't watch hockey and just follow box-scores.

LMAO what is this list. You are so offside here. Of all the player you mentioned, Fox, Hamilton, Carlson, McAvoy, Hedman, Makar, Josi, Pietrangelo, Theodore are clearly better. Everyone else is up for debate. None of those other guys are miles ahead of Rielly, they are all in the same ballpark and who is better switches every single week depending on how their team plays. You also added some names that shouldn't be apart of this conversation either. I don't know where you get that Rielly has gotten worse from. Like that such a weird take that you just made up. In the last 3 years he is 7th in defenseman points in the NHL, and 10th in ppg. At 5v5 he is 5th in points among defenseman. He plays all situations for one of the best teams in the league and has done so for many years now. You should wake up and watch some hockey.

Wrong. Forsberg is one of the best wingers in the NHL. If he was on a better team, he’d put up 70 points easily. It’s a fair trade.

I'm from Sweden, I am very well aware of Forsberg's talents. It's just how the league works. Top end defenseman and centers have higher value than wingers in the NHL.

True. And the Seth Jones and Darnell Nurse extensions have raised the value of a #1 defenseman to a ridiculous level. And, being from Nashville, I’m all too aware of the contracts GMs hand out to centers.
