ahahaha people might be thinking this might be too much but HEAR ME OUT:

1) You might be thinking they are getting older so no point in giving up much because of decline or what not. Well, they are only 29/30. That is not old whatsoever, especially for a player that is one of the best players to play the game/if not the best all-around player to step on the ice. Malkin (BIG TIME SNUB FROM THE TOP 100) is also one of the best ever.

2) They are game-changers. Not many in the league are.

To me, they have a added value because of their names. This game's a business as much as it is a game.

So question is:

Plus, the Jets still don't have a bonafide goalie and you are taking away 2 middle pairing D men. Sure they will be great offensively but they will need to be just to keep pace.

how is that a clear chance for the cup, its 2 players. The same way MAF sank multiple Pen's teams in the playoffs, Winnipeg is lacking D and in net. After that trade they will also be lacking in forwards. Who are Crosby and Malkin feeding the puck to? Themselves?

Yea, Winnipeg gets screwed. They become a top heavy bubble team after this. In 5 years this would haunt them giving up Laine, Scheifele and Trouba, plus having no draft picks until the third round for the next three years. Pittsburgh is instantly a dynasty if this were to happen

Two aging stars, for 3 young up and coming stars in Scheif, Laine, and Trouba. A top 4 D in Myers, and a depth 3rd/4th liner Lemieux is a lot to give for two guys taking up 28% of your CAP. Granted they are super stars I'll give you that But Scheif and Laine have as much potential to become that as well. THEN on top of all that, you want 3 1st round picks and 3 2nd rounders. A total of another 6 potential NHL players.
