That's not even close.

Buffalo has Dahlin and Power. They are set for the left defense for the next half decade or more.

Caulfield or Suzuki would need to be in the trade otherwise you'd have to give up more 1st round picks.

Sam is an RFA with Arb rights. Based on his and Buchs return, it's clear teams don't want to pay and risk not retaining the player.

Eichel has 5 years left on his contract. You are comparing apples to oranges.

We're comparing BUF history of poor returns in general

Its already been confirmed by multiple sources talks are open but Suzuki and Caufield are off the table.
BUF ended talks thinking NYR would pony up Schneider or Lundkvist but they said no

Then BUF circled back to MTL knowing they were never getting a Suzki , Caufield , Lundkvist or Schneider for Eichel.

Only way i see this working for BUF is in a 3 way trade.
Then they could probably get a lot of depth pieces
But COL inevitably lowered his Expectations taking Quality and Quantity meeting in the middle.

I think even then its a hard sell
Right now i think they're just looking for a legit top 6 Center under 25
Plus a but load of prospects and picks

Look what they got for Ristolainen.

Reinhart is a 1 year rental. If you give 5 times that return for 5 years of Eichel that's fine.
