Yeah figured that’s why you did it but he also said he’s looking for 9-10. I don’t think that’s realistically what he’s looking for but using it as a negotiating tactic. That being said if he does indeed move on from leafs I’d imagine 7x8/8.5 is what he’s looking for. He also conveniently listed 6 teams who are competitive but don’t have much cap flexibility.

But the bottom 6 is questionable.
I feel like with this roster having two of each spread across 3 lines would be even more insane.

Robertson - Matthews - Nylander
Bertuzzi - Tavares - Galchenyuk
Landeskog - Nash - Marner
Simmonds - Brooks - Spezza

That is a team I would be excited to watch.

Not really. He's not worth that, and he's definitely not worth over $8M that he's asking.

There's a reason Joe Sakic hasn't signed him yet (he's a smart dude).

This is what we know:

1. Toronto is interested in Bertuzzi.

2. Yzerman will listen to offers for Bertuzzi.

3. Bertuzzi hasn't asked for a trade.

4. Detroit isn't trying to trade him.

This is very simple you want something only Detroit has so Detroit can ask for what ever they want.

Toronto can say no we aren't giving up that much for Bertuzzi.

Detroit will say fine by us we will keep Bertuzzi.

its not a bad offer really, we are taking a guy with injuries off your hands, giving you a very decent prospect and a first (it will be late i know, i would not be surprised if its two firsts and a second) and toronto is a team looking to win now while wingd are later, thats not a bad return

Even if Detroit trades Bertuzzi they still have a plethora of wingers. While Amirov is a good prospect it's not a position they need. Detroit needs C, LHD and a good goalie prospect. Bertuzzi is Detroit's 2nd or 3rd best player so if they do trade him I really think they would want an LHD or a C. Realistically Bertuzzi can score 20+ goals a season and Amirov hasn't played a game in the NHL and until he does you really don't know what you are going to get. Look at E Svechnikov (2015) and Cholowski (2016) both mid 1st rd picks and neither of them have done much to prove they belong in The NHL. If I had to guess Amirov probably becomes a good player but we already know Bertuzzi is a good player. So Detroit would be taking a good amount of risk and Toronto has no risk.

Surprised he traded a 2nd but I suppose Leddy could fetch a nice return at the TDL I don't like these trades where the player has to be traded just to break even in the 1st trade. Every one sure Ryan and Staal were going to be traded at the TDL but it didn't happen. But Ryan was UFA signing and NYR gave Detroit a 2nd to take Staal so it really didn't matter. If Detroit can't trade Leddy and then he signs with another team and Detroit gave up a 2nd for nothing. But he hasn't done anything to make Detroit fans not trust him. So he probably has something already set up.

i think they made that trade knowing they will get a second in return, maybe a small part in a bertuzzi deal? all speculations at this point
