Description
I know it's a 25 man roster. I'll explain. Also, no, I don't love this. But they already said they're not trading one of the big 4, and Dubas tends to go for one big splash and then go bargain hunting. So while not exactly this, I think something like this may happen.

Expansion Draft Protected List
Matthews
Marner
Nylander
Tavares
Rielly
Brodie
Muzzin
Holl

If Kerfoot gets picked, trade Dermott for a lower pick elsewhere. Or keep Dermott and trade Holl for a low pick and give Dermott a chance to be a top 4 defender.

The idea with the scratches is simple. Liljgren is the 7th D, if he really stumbles, leafs may have to send him down, risk losing him and go trade for some defense depth.

The other four are competing for the last two roster spots. Two get them. The other two get waived (unless a 2-way deal but unlikely). If they clear, great, if not, it's not a big deal if they get claimed. Picked Jurco kind of at random, and Ho-Sang seems like an interesting reclamation project. But it could really be anyone.

For cap purposes, this is what it looks Ike depending on what happens with Engvall.
Cap Space with Engvall - 340K / Buried - 715K / Claimed off Waivers - 840K

I hate when people are really negative on GM proposals but... holy hell man.

1. 2-way deal doesn't mean they are waiver exempt. Has nothing to do with waivers.

2. Halak staying in BOS because Tuuka may retire.

3. Getzlaf seems unlikely.

4. Goodrow is about 500k too low.

5. Bogosian is about 500k too high.

6. Bobby Ryan isn't playing for 750k again.

7. Why the hell would they want Jurco and Ho Sang

8. Jesus tap dancing Christ, 5x5.5 for Saad????

I'm going to keep on mentioning this on AGMs why on earth do leafs fan want to put more money into the top lines. You added $5.5M on a line that was already taking up $22.5M while your entire bottom 6 are only making $6.6

I don't mind this team necesarily but there are a few points to make:

- That is an overpayment for Saad it seems but Saad is in the same boat as Hyman (not saying they are the same players) but same situation. Many teams are looking for guys like him and therefor he will get overpaid by some desperate GM because a few teams are interested in his services. Could you allocate that 5M elsewhere? Obviously yes, especially with the latest Landeskog rumours (far fetched to materialize) but all considering 2-3M more you are in the conversation for him...

- The ACGM here for this roster is obviously using Ho-Sang and Jurco as comparables to Dubas' idea of Alex Gally from last year. Is it a terrible idea? They both have potential I guess, BUT when you look at the leafs overall cap situation, do they have the luxury of 1.5M on re-construction projects?...maybe not when they need every dollar of their cap space to help them get out of the first round, NOW. (I like the idea though, sometimes can find gems like this..)

- I see many people who are ACGM the leafs signing a back-up goalie for more than what Campbell is currently making. To each their own however Campbell deserves to be given a full 82 game cycle in the starters crease so why not sign a veteran for 1M or around there who is fine to be a back up and provide stability when Campbell needs games off?

- Bobby Ryan will probably double his salary on a contender I would presume..

- Goodrow is a great option, not to mention Blake Coleman as well...Goodrow made $975,000 last year and has consistently put up 20 points in last two seasons. $2.5M is a raise for him for now to continue to prove his consistency. 3M is also fair too.

All and all the idea here is solid, the numbers would need to be tweaked, the 3rd line centre role, I would look outside of Getzlaf for someone a tad younger who provides a little more offence.

Also to mention, move some of the bodies out such as Engvall and get a pick or something for him if he is being pushed out of the lineup. This would also help you become cap compliant.

I am the same, I don't like negativity on these forums, people are just having fun and being hypothetical so that is why I respond as so.
