Hamilton should be priority #1
I would take DeAngelo over Savard
That’s how low Savard is, especially with that hideous contract

1. You would be paying twice as much for Hamilton as you would for Savard.

2. Tampa spent their 1st round pick on Savard as a pending UFA while the Rangers want to buyout DeAngelo.

Interesting set of priorities you have.

1. It's one year and the same cap hit as when he signed with Philly 12 months ago.

2. He quarterbacked the 1st powerplay unit for the Habs throughout the playoffs.

3. If Bergevin didn't put him in the lineup in Game 5 against the Leafs, the Habs might not make it to the Cup Finals.

Gustafsson have been MTL worse dman in the entire playoffs and wasn't playing at 5 on 5
DeAngelo will be buyout due to his attitude, not is skills
Savard isn't good, nowhere near worth 4.5M
Savard is getting old, DeAngelo is young

1. You're make the assumption that DeAngelo's attitude just magically changes if he goes to another team.

2. DeAngelo is a locker room cancer while Savard is a Stanley Cup champion.

3. When Arizona traded for Stepan and Raanta, they had to also pay the Rangers the 7th overall pick to dump DeAngelo.

4. Are you trolling?

If you follow hockey a little bit, you would know that the Rangers offered DeAngelo to terminate is contract and that the Habs had an offer for him to keep playing
DeAngelo decided to keep the 4.8M and will be buyout by NY
So it is possible that Bergevin offers DeAngelo another contract ? Yes, it is possible

So, is it possible Bergevin offers Stanley Cup Champion and fellow Quebec francophone David Savard another contract?

Yes, it is possible.

But one got reported and the other you make it up
I brought that DeAngelo is possible
You think it’s a bad idea
I think that Savard at 4.5M is bad for whoever signs him to that contract

I wouldn't make up the fact that DeAngelo is a locker room cancer.

Now, you're gaslighting.

He lost one game for the Rangers in overtime early in the regular season.

He then gets into a fight with his D partner in dressing room alley and Georgiev punches him in the face.

Rangers then make him a healthy scratch for the rest of the season.

It got reported along with several other incidents from before.

If that's not being a locker room cancer, I don't know what is.

I brought up that Savard to Montreal is possible.

You think it's a bad idea and that bringing in DeAngelo is a good idea.

I think that DeAngelo at any price is bad for whomever signs him to any contract.

Savard does not replace Weber, he may take up the roster spot but that’s it. A hurt Weber in the playoffs was better than Savard. You are right saying DeAngelo is bad for whoever gives him a contract, but someone will

I don’t think DeAngelo is a good idea
Never said that
But Bergevin thinks that it might be a good idea
If I had too choose between 1 year DeAngelo at 3M or less or an anchor of a contract like the Savard one, I take DeAngelo any day

Looking back, you never said it word for word.

But based on the nature of the comments to this post, that's what you've lead me to believe.

If you think bringing in a locker room cancer is better than making the playoffs and winning the Stanley Cup with someone who's done it already, then good luck to you.

Sometimes, I wonder why Jarmo Kekalainen of all people would give Savard 4.25 million x 5.

The extension in this post is only 250k more expensive per year and 1 year longer.

Not that far off from what Jarmo had him signed for.

Having 6 years of opportunities to win the cup is better than having 1 year with a locker room cancer.

Sometimes, I wonder why Julien Brisebois spent a 1st round pick on Savard instead of spending a 7th on DeAngelo.

DeAngelo is younger and more skilled, like you said.

Who cares if Tampa won the cup with Savard instead of DeAngelo?

Who cares if Columbus tanked, Savard needed to be traded and that he needed to rapidly adjust to a completely different team?

Sometimes, I wonder why Bergevin traded away fan favourite PK Subban and brought in Shea Weber who has an "anchor of a contract".

Who cares if Subban's antics and his deteriorating relationship with the coaching staff and Bergevin was having a negative impact on the team?

Who cares if Weber became Captain, was trusted with a far bigger role by Team Canada at the 2014 Sochi Olympics and would lead the Habs to a Cup final under the strain of injuries?

Who cares if Weber is going onto LTIR and will give the Habs free cap space for the next 5 years?

With 1 year of DeAngelo, he'll probably be out the door by the end of next season.

And then the Habs will be back to square one and be looking for yet another quality right-handed RD.

It would be a very interesting next 12 months with DeAngelo playing for the Habs, that's for sure.

Next year RHD : Seth Jones John Klingberg Rasmus Ristolainen etc way more quality RHD then Savard
I wouldn’t mind Hamilton, but not Savard
He is not good like he was before, he’s no top4 dman
I rather do Edmundson-Petry Romanov-Chiarot then signing Savard to a long term deal
