Easy no from Boston. Can't afford Schmidt's cap and don't want him anyway. You'd be paying Boston to take him and taking bad contracts back so they don't make any sense at all as trade partners.

    1. EP/QH reported only looking for bridge deals.
    2. Hamonic wont sign that cheap
    3. Coleman is the next Eriksson, with that deal.
    4. Huge overpayment for Geekie/Bean.
    5. Any OEL deal will cripple this franchise
    6. Ownership has said multiple times, salary retention will not be considered on contracts with multiple years left. Besides that, Boston wont entertain that deal.

Schmidt is not a cap dump of bad contract - may want to read some non-bias canuck reporters - there is a market for Schmidt

If you could retain a bit more on Schmidt/take off the 5th, I would take it.

Well, this trade would have to happen before the X draft as Lauzon is involved. Boston would just expose Schmidt and Seattle would take him. So the trade ends up being in essence is Wagner for Lockwood/3rd/5th. Which is a pretty good deal for Boston actually.

But you are right. Boston should not have any interest in Schmidt, not the type of D man they need and not a good contract.

I think the best deal for Nucks is Schmidt to Zona for OEL. Might be other pieces involved, maybe Nucks can dump Roussel or Virtanen on them too.

Sorry I hit the wrong player when I selected Wagner, I meant Moore as he is LTIR and has higher cap hit but will be on LTIR

I don't like Schmidt. Bad contract. Not a bad player by any means, but not worth his contract and not what the bruins are looking for.

This statement is correct. Schmidt had a down year, however has a solid trackrecord of being a quality d-man that can play either side competently. His actual dollars being paid are $1M/year less than his cap hit (which is important to some teams like Carolina, AZ or Florida), and he's in the prime years of his career, which means a bounce back is highly possible. I'd like to see the Canucks keep him.

    1. At least one of EP or QH has to do a bridge, at least until Beagel/Roussel/Eriksson/Luongo hits are off the books.
    2. I think he signs for $2M, possibly even less, but the situation has to be right for him. He hasn't exactly been reliable healthwise.
    3. Someone will overpay for Coleman, but it won't be Van.
    4. This is a trade full of underperformers except for Motte. It's unnecessary as it doesn't address either team's issues.
    5. I'm not sure what to think on OEL. I think he's better than Myers, so I'd be interested in taking him at even money to Myers, but the extra 3 years of term on his deal worries me. He turns 30 next year and is signed for big dollars until he's 36.
    6. Canucks need to get themselves out this $19.3M commitment to five players (LE/AR/JB/RL/Holtby) who add little to nothing to the team. That's the equivalent of having Victor Hedman and Mark Scheifele on your team, and still having $5.3M/year to fill some holes. We need patience as we have something potentially special coming up.

    4. Bean would be useful
    5. Myers is off books at 36, with OEL you would still 2 more years. OEL is more crippling.
    6. Retaining salary on Beagle, Roussel, Eriksson and Holtby are acceptable, providing that Vancouver is not adding sweeteners or picks to move them. Retaining salary on Schmidt or Myer deals is unacceptable.

Guys how is OEL contract crippling at $2.25 retained by Arizona and Schmidt is only retained at $1.5 and Vancouver still has $22.5 Million next offseasonn to resign Boeser, Rathbone and Lauzon and then $37 Million free the season after with this roster so it is far from a disaster or cap crunch.
Coleman is only for 3 years that is why he is getting $5 Million instead of $4 Million per and he would play well with Horvat and Höglander on the 2nd line.
But why does Vancouver need to do a bridge deal when if they can resign both them to long term deals like 8 or 7 year deal then do it so Canucks aren’t doing this again in another 3 years.
