Description
After the display of Chiarot and Tampa’s D core, most teams are going to want to copy the formula of big D, so Seattle will take a chance on Chiarot and have themselves a very solid D core with their other picks as well. Allen is definitely still a possibility but recency bias would point towards Chiarot and other big name goalies could be available (Holtby, Andersen).

As far as the Schwartz signing goes, this could easily be Hoffman or duclair as well. Just needs to be someone who consistently puts themselves in a good position to score. That should set up KK nicely to finally have a big season from a points production perspective. I sided with Schwartz as we know Bergie loves to take in cup winners for experience’s sake and he’s got familiarity with Edmundson (and maybe still Allen as well).

Lastly, I know I’m going to get roasted for the Jones trade, but the deal won’t be huge, as he’s an expiring UFA and unless the sides can work out a long term extension prior to the deal. Also, the Drouin thing is tough bc if he is still not ready to play next season, the deal falls apart and he would be buried on LTIR for next season as well. Would also hate to ship off a guy further away from home that isn’t doing well mentally.

would be pumped to add a dman of Jones' level. however i think getting another big scoring winger is much more pressing, Schwartz is a decent player but i dont think that addition makes much difference. Habs dont have to lose Chairot either, leave Weber exposed, they arent going to take that contract on, then you keep your top 4 together and can focus on trading for a winger instead.

I really doubt you could get Jones for 2 cap dumps and what would be a late 1st (with Jones and Schwartz)

Also think Schwartz will get a better contract than this

I get what you’re saying, but think about how the Habs literally had to play 4 D for the entire playoffs, and how much it would help not taxing those guys every single game. Plus Jones helps with PP which is still an area that the team desperately needs to improve in. Also, there really isn’t all that much cap space left (unless Armia walks) for a more impactful winger. I see what you’re saying about protections too, but there is no way they leave the captain unprotected, especially after the incredible effort he just gave all playoffs long.
