By taking on more cap?

Tarasenko’a deal is up after 2 years and Buch would probably be looking for a longer term at around the same AAV. This would allow them to pay the contracts ending in 2 years (Miller, Laf, Chytil on a bridge) and prevent a long term road block for Kakko and Kravstov

Extremely hard pass from STL

His list supposedly only has 10 teams on it and even then I doubt all of them have cap room/any desire for him. You’d be hard pressed to get a better player back than Buch

Yea but Buch isn’t enough for Tarasenko AND Dunn. Believe me, I love Buch more than anyone, but Dunn’s established himself as a top 4 guy.

St.Louis obviously doesn’t value Dunn as much seeing as he was healthy scratched multiple times and they’ve been trying to trade him for a year and Tarasenko’s value is at an all time low. Teams don’t know if he can return to his old form and they know the Blues don’t hold many cards in the situation.

Buch and Tank are going to have similar AAVs... so, I'll take Buch any day, as he's shown to be the better all around player over the last two years. If in two years or whatever the cap isn't working out, you will get better value trading Buch at that point than you will anything this trade gives you. It just doesn't add up. Obviously more would need to be added to also get Dunn, but it's doable to give up a Zac Jones or something. Dunn would play third pairing most likely, and I'm not sure it's worth it. I would like to see a big and physical 3rd pairing D to more round out the team than Dunn
