Ok, so obviously Winnipeg needs better defense, and you can do that via trade, or free agency, but that's sort of boring and it's somewhat hard to do with the XD coming up and cap space and all. So, I went the more fun rought and did something very unlikely, yet interesting in trying to pry away Makar from Colorado via offer sheet. So what would it take to succesfully offer sheet him? Probably 12 million+. I know that seems like a lot but I don't think Colorado would not match an 11 million contract for Makar, obviously it might be an overpay now, but in 6-8 years, it might even be a steal. The next question is a little more open-ended and that is whether Makar will even sign an offer sheet as I still don't really know if he's the kind of guy that cares more about money or if he's more loyal and team-orientated. Personnaly, I would lean to toward him being more loyal, but money does talk and what Winnipeg is offering here is a lot and the kind of money that could make Makar never have to worry about his salary for the rest of his career, and when he's 29, he'll be able to go to the best team possible instead of thinking about money. Finally the question is whether Winnipeg will be able to clear the cap to do this, and to that I would say maybe. To clear cap, Winnipeg needs to spend less on their bottom six, bottom pair and backup as well as getting luck with Pionk and Copp not demanding something crazy. So in conclusion, I honestly think that Winnipeg could do this but it wold take work and some luck, though if they can do it it will be very beneficial.
Le salaire annuel moyen (AAV) de l'offre hostile est calculé en divisant la valeur totale du contrat par: 1. La durée totale du contrat, ou 2. Cinq ans
While I would commit mass genocide to have Cale Makar in a Jets jersey, that money could screw the team in the future. Don’t see how the avs would match this though
Makar is not going anywhere, I just made a roster showing even though they would have to make a tough decision, 15m aav OS matched, Avs fill out a full team and its still deep

they can. Just means they have to move on from landeskog and pivot to a Saad or Coleman level player to fill his spot in the top 6, but it can be done.
The potential of a Generational level talent like Makar is not someone you walk away form bc of an additional 2m on his contract
