This is just sad. The Sabres have not had any success, and yet they're now already going back into a rebuild. And its not even like they have a choice. Their best players want out and they don't have the assets to go trade for someone that could change the fate of their team. But nonetheless, I feel like Buffalo just needs to rip the band-aid off and trade these guys, because as bad as the team may be, their best players are not bad. Starting with Jack Eichel, what they get from him is somewhat of a mystery. I have him going to Vegas, which means that part of the package will include taking back cap, in this case Reilly Smith and Ryan Reaves. Next, Vegas will have to give up prospects, in this case Krebbs and Glass. Finally, Vegas gives up their first and New Jersey's second this year as well as their first next year and their second the next year, which should cover the cost of the 1.5 million I have Buffalo retaining. Sure this trade package isn't incredible, but it's probably what you're going to get for Eichel at the amount of money he's being payed and his health uncertainty. Next, you flip Reilly Smith at 50% retention to the leafs for a second next year, which effectively adds to the Eichel trade package. Columbus is a team that has been linked to Reinhart, and though I don't think it's the right idea for Columbus, it seems as though it will happen. In this trade I have Columbus giving up the 2 firsts they acquired at the trade deadline as well as a decent prospect in Trey Fix-Wolansky. This trade may seem like a lot, but for what Reinhart brings combined with his age and the ability to sign him for however much for however long as you want, makes Reinhart very valuble. Next, have Colorado trading for Ristolainen at partial retention because of his high price tag. Aside from that though, I do feel that Colorado is a good fit for Risto as he is big and physical and though he isn't superb defensively, he can stil bring some other aspects that Colorado could use. Buffalo recieves two decent prospects in this deal. Also, for the XD, if Buffalo can trade Ristolainen before the protected lists are due (or not because I doubt Seattle would take him), they will still be able to protect Miller, which gives Seattle almost no options so I have them taking a third-stringer in Tokarski.
