Description
I really think a quick retool would be best for the islanders rn. When cap space is at a premium why not try to capitalize on that instead of going all out and having tampa steal the cup again.

Please dont comment about ladd and ltir. I think he ends up on ltir this season but if he doesnt just get rid of the stralman trade.

Tullio was not signed, just theres no other way to trade him.

The D pairings are obviously not based on whos best but who i think the best fit would be.

****EDITS****
Add the 2021 2nd COL to the CGY trade.

    Détails additionnels:
In return for this, detroit gives up a later 1st in a very uncertain draft. They are still able to pick wahlstedt so they have a goalie of the future, and while they dont get a potential top pairing LHD to play with seider they do get a potential top 6 C. Considering the plethora of LHD prospects in the system, they could do something like the rangers (LD by commitee).

    Détails additionnels:
Detroits lack of centers after larkin is a problem so they get a guy who looks like he could become a solid 2C. They also get a former top 5 pick who hasnt worked out. At best they unlock him and he becomes a solid top 6 contributor (very unlikely). At worst hes a solid bottom 6 contributor whos not afraid to do the dirty work and go to the corners. (Not a very physical player but hes good at digging pucks out and keeping plays alive. They also get a pick.

Interesting Edmonton trade. I'd be somewhat interested but with Keith likely coming to the Oilers, unless Keith has 50% retained we likely can't stomach the Leddy contract too.

You think teams are just giving away 2022 and 2023 1sts like its candy. Those draft classes are pretty strong and they got several franchise talents in them.

This team is considerably worse. Why would the Islanders do any of this?

This was on the premise that he doesnt come to edmonton. If he does theres really no need for leddy.

Agreed but none of these teams are trying to rebuild and get a high pick. Theyre all trying to win now and with cap space at a premium its gonna cost.

??? Eberle and Bellows for a ‘22 1st ??? Thats Calgary taking on $5.5m and giving up a 1st in 22. Must have got that one backwards, by taking on that contract calgary should only be giving up a 3rd max. Eberle is still a serviceable player but certainly not worth paying $5.5m and giving up a 2022 1st in the process.

So this just shows your ignorance as every eberle to CGY trade on here from both islander fans and calgary fans is a 2nd and a 3rd. Yes that deal is a little lacking and maybe needs another small piece, but a 3rd for eberle? No thank you.

Lol just cuz lots of capfriendly deals say that doesnt mean thats what he is worth. The contract is a problem and with a flat cap moving forward I think a 2nd and a 3rd is pushing it. I dont argue with those because I think they are close, you on the other hand have eberle going for a ‘22 1st. If im ignorant for saying a 3rd for eberle, what does that make you for saying a 1st in 2022. You even said urself that cap space is at a premium yet we are the ones taking on all the cap. And with the term on his deal it will end up interfering with Gaudreau, Mangiapane and Tkachuk who will all get decent money assuming they re-sign. We even have young guys like Dube and Valimaki who will likely be getting some pay raises over that span. I dont know if you realize the difference in talent from the 1st to 2nd and 3rd round. Basically around 35-40% of players drafted in the 1st play more than 100gp in the nhl, whereas that number drops all the way to around 17% and 13% for the 2nd and 3rd rnd respectively. Thats a massive difference.

      1. I feel like youre just forgetting that bellows is in there also. In addition to that i added in a 21 2nd round pick COL. (Its in the description bc i dont wanna rewrite the whole explanation of the trade). Would that be enough? ~2 2nds a 3rd and bellows?

Yeah but you've made it a 3-year retool and this core is already 30+ or right up on 30 years old. It would make absolutely no sense whatsoever to do this.

Why dont you look at the other 2 teams. Theyre ****in championship teams and theyre much younger and its sustainable capwise. I went through the next 3 years with that.
