The Kings have the cap space to trade for Marner and it appears like they could use a top-line winger like Marner. I think the Leafs would want a solid middle-six forward with top line potential like Vilardi along with a right defenseman like Walker. Not sure what else Kings would throw in; perhaps Andersson as well as some picks?

Tarasenko has injury questions, so his value is somewhat lower than before. Marner would be a slightly better and younger version of post-injury Tarasenko, albeit on a larger contract for more term. This deal would let the Leafs bring back a player like Hyman or another free agent as well as giving more cap flexibility in the future. Maybe the team would want a B or C prospect or 3rd or 4th round pick as well?

If the Canes are unable to re-sign Dougie Hamilton, then replacing Niederreiter w/ Marner could help upgrade the team and still leave room for a medium-contract free agent. Since Nino is a rental, the deal would either have to include a new contract for him, or some futures/depth coming back to Toronto.
