Yes, it's a Calgary rebuild. Calgary just clearly doesn't have the pieces to win a cup, their depth is nonexistent and their best players are not as good as they should be. They don't have 1c and their top six always has bottom six players in it. A choaching change didn't make a difference, so it's time to change personnel, starting with Johnny Gaudreau. Gaudreau is interesting, as he's technically a rental, but he would be inclined to resign if he landed in a place like Phily. It's also harder to find a player's trade value when they don't have a long term contract, so I've given him an extension, for simplicity sake. I also added Tanev into this trade as he seems like a defensive D-man who makes anyone he plays with better, like Ivan Provorov. In return, Calgary gets Philiy's first (which will be part of any big trade they make this offseason), Nolan Patrick (who has hinted at wanting out so it's not a huge loss for Phily), Cam York, Bobby Brink and Jakub Voracek (who I'm pretty sure is viewed as a negative asset). Next I traded Giordano to make space for some younger D-men. Sean Monaghan has to go, but probably at retention that way Calgary can get more assets and finally Elias Lindholm. Lindholm has one of the best contracts in the league, and the advantage of being able to trade him to a cap tight team. The leafs are begging for a player like Lindholm, who can play the wing and center and is cheap but consistent. Because Lindholm would be the leafs 5th forward, the leafs will no longer be able to protect Holl, so it’s best to trade him in the deal. Liljegren is a young RD, that Calgary could use, Mikheyev is there to take back cap and Calgary will likely demand a first in the deal to. After all of this, Calgary will have two lottery picks this year, they’ll have a much deeper prospect pool ( though they still lack a high end prospect) and their future will be far brighter than it is right now.
Some people can’t understand simple stats, it’s crazy lol
I can’t tell if you’re mocking me but as far as I’m concerned, wins are the only stat that really matter. Sure, advanced analytics can indicate things but the only way to have success is WINS.
With Sutter and with Sutter's system are not the same thing. You cant just implement a system in 1 day, it takes about 15 games on average. Flames were 10-5 in their last 15 games
They’re identical players. Substandard 5 on 5 but do damage on a power play. Philly is just making the same mistake I. This trade by ready for gaudreau and signing him to a long term deal

I'm going to break down this trade piece by piece, so you understand my thought process. Firstly, I think that York for Tanev, one for one, is a fair deal as York may have more upside but he's still a prospect, and Tanev is exactly what Philly needs as a defence partner for Provorov. Next, I did Voracek for Gaudreau, one for one. Gaudreau is clearly the better player. Over the past four years here is his PPG: 1.05, 1.2, 0.82, 0.87 and here is Voracek's: 1.03, 0.84, 0.81, 0.81. So Gaudreau has scored higher PPG more recently as well as scoring more goals than Voracek in each of the last four seasons including double his 9 this year. Voracek is clearly regressing even though he had a decent year this year, which as mainly due to playing with JVR, who had a great year. Gaudreau also had a +2 this year on a team that had a -5 goal differential while Voracek had a -12 on a team with a minus 38 goal differential. (I know +/- isn't a great stat but I didn't want to have to get all into advanced stats and it proves that he isn't only a power play guy). On top of all of this, Gaudreau is four years younger, getting paid four years longer and will be getting paid 1.5 million less this coming year, 0.25 million less for the two years after that and then Voracek comes off the books. Also, Gaudreau will age better as he's used to being fragile and having to avoid hits which will help as he ages and needs to stay healthy. So, Voracek for Gaudreau might not make sense, but once you add in Phily's first, it gets close and with Bobby Brink I think it's fair. Finally, I added Patrick to this trade as he already wants out so it's not a huge hit.
Your value on gaudreau is insane. You will not get voracek, a first, a prospect and a former number 2 overall for a power play specialist. What are gaudreaus 5v5 stats like. His even strength scoring. He’s nothing without power play time, where he becomes obsolete in Philly behind better wingers.

Lol what? 38% of Gaudreaus points come on the PP while 35% of Mcdavids points come on the PP. I’m not comparing Mcdavid and Gaudreau but I’m just saying that players that get lots of points score a lot on the PP. Not to mention Gaudreau is the best player on his power play. Sure he relies on it, but Gaudreau is no where close to being a power play specialist.
