Would they rather have a bottom 6 forward?

For starters, you’d have to likely bribe Seattle to take Keith vs a younger player.

Secondly, Buffalo isn’t taking Seabrook’s contract; not to mention it makes zero sense to trade him when he’s LTIR. Additionally up the 2nd to a Lottery protected 1st. We shouldn’t lose value if you fail in the 1st round as it has nothing to do with us and Eichel would still be there 4 more years.

1. Seattle would rather have someone that is a 3-time Stanley Cup Champion and Conn Smythe Trophy winner than a bottom six forward.

Why would they even bother picking Mark Giordano from Calgary? Would Calgary need to bribe Seattle too?

2. Also, this trade idea about Eichel has been endorsed by fans from the teams involve, right here on capfriendly.

See for yourself.

youre just throwing context out the window eh?

yes, he won 3 cups and a conn but hes 38 and has been in a natural decline for a long time. Gio is the same age but was elite 2 years ago and is still hot and cold.

yes, seattle would absolutely take a bottom 6 forward + 3rd round pick before they take Keith for free. you know who else won a cup? Jay Bouwmeester. might as well trade a 3rd for him too right?

keith is way overpaid and isnt as good anymore. this is literally obvious. however i would love for you to try to explain how a 38 year olds accomplishment from 6+ years ago should be included in his current evaluation. ill wait.

Jay Bouwmeester is retired because of a heart condition and Duncan Keith is still playing over 23 mnutes a night.

I have no idea why you're comparing Keith to Bouwmeester.

You're way out too lunch on that one.

If anything, you're the one throwing context out the window.

His accomplishments throughout his NHL career and the fact he is still able to play over 23 minutes a night suggests he can be on the top defensive pairing on most NHL teams.

As of today.

Easy.

If I'm Ron Francis and I'm evaluating whether to spend a 3rd on Duncan Keith or being stuck with a bottom six forward that will probably play on the 4th line ...

The choice is obvious.

There are some people that comment on my posts with constructive criticism for the purposes of having a friendly conversation.

Then, there are others who just trash my posts out of anger and come looking for a fight on the internet.

I wonder what category you would fall under.

Your next comment will serve as a bellwether.

im using Jay as a comparable because your only reason for acquiring Keith is because of his cup experience.

also two things -

if you think Keith is a top pair defensmen based on deployment, find a new way to evaluate talent. use analytics, do your eye test, or whatever but know that deployment doesnt mean much. ristolainen plays how many minutes?

also, if you take capfriendly this serious seek help

I stated other reasons for acquiring Keith and you conveniently ignored them.

Keith quarterbacks the power-play and he kills penalties for the Hawks.

Those are two other reasons.

Ice time/deployment is an indicator that the Head Coach likes how he plays and trusts him well enough to play him again and again over others.

You can minimize it all you want but it is what is.

Ristolainen is playing for a far worse team than the Hawks, so once again, you're out to lunch with your comparisons.

Also, if you take Capfriendly this serious, considering that you're still commenting on my posts, seek help.

I now know what category you fall under smile

I don't think a player that ...

1. Still plays over 23 minutes a night on the top defence pairing for the Hawks

2. Quarterbacks either the 1st or 2nd power-play unit for the Hawks

3. Still kills penalties on a regular basis for the Hawks

... is what you had in mind for a washed defenseman.

But, I respect your opinion smile

I respect yours as well its ok to be lost in the past keith is literally a defensive liability at this point and his offense has dipped the only reason he gets 20 minutes is because our defense sucks
