Maybe a 3rd team retains. I doubt Vegas does.

MAF doesn't get to pick where he goes. He only gets a 10 team no trade list.

Pretty sure he'd have teams like Buffalo on that list.

pretty sure he'd have canadian teams on it. if he really wants a cup he'll go to pitts, caps, avs, maybe even canes. leafs? they have the same odds as the sabres to win the cup next year.

Somebody is a hater its ok great teams always go through years of losing before they break out. Ask Washington and Tampa. Toronto has a better chance of winning than Pitts and the Canes

your the type of guy that is always negative and posting why things can't happen and then will disappear when they happen

washington and tampa have more playoff round apperances than the leafs have playoff wins in the last 2 decades. calm yourself. im not a hater. im a realist. in the first rd, you'll likely go against tampa, boston, or mtl and lose again. so relax.

Pretty weak LW and bottom half of the forwards just to sign 6m Fleury.

I agree the LW is weak in the top 6 but the bottom half of the forwards isn't bad IMO.

This gives us cap flexibility at the end of the season. I'd want to lock down Sandin to a long term contract.

The Leaf's are gaining valuable playoff experience and have lost in game 7 every year and mostly to teams that have gone on to the finals/won the cup. This is a team that is close to breaking out

That is irrelevant to this team. The last 4 years the Leaf's have a better playoff record than the Pens and are a young team on the way up while the Pens are heading in the opposite direction.

    Leaf's 11-15
    Pens 9-17

irrelevant really. first rd experince doesn't mean much. it just means that you don't have the team and roster to go deep. experience is irrelevant when you can't win a game 7. you've had 4 chances to win in the 1st rd and blew it away. fool me once, shame on me, fool me twice, shame on you, fool me thrice, shame on both of us. you guys just plain suck in the playoffs. you can't hold a lead and your team isn't built to go deep. all the skill in the world and you've blown a series lead against the last seed team. thats not experience. thats stupidity.

Cool. They leafs haven’t been able to make it past the first round in decades, unlike the pens. One team has had success, the other hasn’t. Don’t try and talk trash about other teams

The quality of the 1st round opponent has a lot to do with it as well 2-3 of the last 3 years the team that beat us went to the finals. You have never played hockey if you think 1st round experience does not mean anything. Next year top top 4 will be that much better and we don't know what the rest of the lineup will look like until later in the summer but just like many teams before them there were many losses before they started to win. Everyone said the same thing about the Red wings before they Won and now everyone looks at them as the team of the 90s. the Caps and Bolts

Well if you really want to talk about stuff that is irrelevant with todays team then we can talk about the Leaf's 13 CUPS vs 5. So the Leaf's have more success as a franchise than the PENS.

As far as the CURRENT teams go I would take the Leaf's team over the Pens.

again, no team has lost 5 times in a row and has been still so upbeat in thier delusions as the leafs have been. just admit your team is not built for a deep run. red wings won a lot of playoff games bud. so ddi the caps, rangers, lightning, pens, hawks. you guys haven't even won a round and you guys have the AUDACITY to compare yourself against those teams. the only think you can compare are cap hits. your guys got paid before achieving antyhing.

I agree that the leaf's have not found the right mix to be successful YET. it is a process The Leaf's have a solid core of players. Just like many other teams they now need to find the right balance or role players to put them over the top.

The core of this team is only 23/22 years old and the contending window just opened for them.

This Leaf team has had 2 disappointing playoff series this year and last.

In 2017 they were not expected to make the playoffs and took a very good CAPs team to 6 games, all 1 goal games and 5 of them went to OT.
in 2018 and 2019 had higher expectations but the played a better more experienced Bruins team that went to the Finals and both went 7 games

In the NHL nothing is guaranteed and building a winner is a process.

Keep living in the past Malkin moves on next year and Crosby is still a great player but declining

What you seem to not see is that the Leaf's are very much like the PENS just younger with up side

Stop comparing the leafs young core to the pens young core. Crosby won the cup in his 4th year/Malkin in his 3rd, and Matthews and the leafs hadn't won a round lmao
