That would make sense, definitely not a terrible offer imo for the amount of leverage Columbus will have.

Oilers wouldn't do that one for one. Bouchard is the future of the blueline, and will be a regular next year.

Maybe Bear for Jones 1 for 1. Or Klefbom.

But Bouch, Nurse and Broberg untouchable

    So, basically ...

You think a defenceman that plays 25 minutes a night and could have won the Norris Trophy once or twice is equal to ...

A defenceman that has no offensive production to his game or ...

A defenceman that is on LTIR.

Never mind that Seth might sign a team-friendly extension with the Oilers if Caleb is still around after the expansion draft.

    This is my thinking:

Either people are trying to come up with every excuse possible to not trade for Seth Jones ...

Or all 31 teams are actively colluding together against Columbus to force Jarmo to give up Seth Jones for a conditional 7th round pick that won't ever materialize or for future considerations.

Then, once the 2022 NHL trade deadline passes by, Seth Jones will still be a Columbus Blue Jacket and will walk in free agency.

    And then, Columbus gets nothing.

That's what folks here on Capfriendly like yourself have lead me to believe.

    Am I wrong?

Based on your comment, you probably wouldn't even claim Seth Jones off waivers.

    Phew . . . ovandatsyuk13 touched a nerve!!

I think it's inevitable that a deal for Jones will likely be for quantity rather than quality (will not include a top defender or a top defensive prospect coming back), especially given his upcoming UFA status.

Staying with Edmonton . . . perhaps they offer a combination of these assets:

    - Bear (who IS a good young defender--not great, but good)
    - Savoie
    - Benson
    - Edmonton's 2021 1st Rounder
    - a conditional future pick of some kind, the quality of which is dependent on him re-signing.

I'm sure Columbus can do better, but that's the most I see Edmonton offering. CBJ's best target may be to get the highest draft pick they can in this years draft, maybe from a bubble team that feels adding a player like Jones will get them into the post-season next year, and whatever else they throw in is gravy! But that's moi 2 cents!

I'd take him off waivers in a heartbeat. And I'd give a decent player/pick for him. But ask any Oiler fan, you're not getting Bouch for him.

A player like Klefbom is decent when he's on LTIR?

    Ok then.

Only guy off the top of my head I could think of. Throw in a 3rd rounder.

Bottom line is, you're not getting a top end prospect for a guy who everyone knows is on his way out the door in Columbus.

    Once again, you're wrong.

Have you ever heard of a player that is not an Edmonton Oiler named Cole Perfetti?

I hear he's a top end prospect that his team might give up to land Seth Jones.
