The Bob Contract Makes Me Very Sad Cap Dump Fun

Description
I don't think it's really possible to get rid of Bob, but this is probably the best you can do. Otherwise there is a 0% chance you can keep this team together after next year. Barkov is up, Verhaeghe is up, Vatrano is up and Marchment is up. All of them are due for big pay raises. This team is otherwise incredibly close to contending in my eyes (really only a healthy Ekblad away if you ask me). Still pieces need to be moved. Yandle is yet another hard contract to move, even if he is productive. I think Arizona wouldn't mind taking him back, especially if Florida does retain a lil or give up a 2nd/1st. Mikey comes back for a year on a prove it deal, he's had more success here than anywhere else, so at a 5mil cap hit for one year, I wouldn't be surprised if he signs on. Bringing back Bennet and Wenneberg solidify the team down the middle, and were very serviceable in their roles last year, 4mil a year for a couple years sounds about right to me. The 4th line I tried to be a little more creative, this team could use some winning experience and culture on it and Getzlaf and Goodrow certainly provide that, and give the team some much needed grit at a low cost. Duclair, while I'd like him back, probably wants a long term deal, something I do no think is bright for Florida to do with him, moving him to the Kings (or whoever really) I think is the right move. On the defense side of things, bringing back Forsling is rather important, has a bright future. He might get more than this but around 2 million on a bridge deal sounds right. I also think if you overpay just enough for Ian Cole, you can probably pry him away from Minnesota. He's a defensively responsible Dman with not that much offensive upside, so reverse Yandle, which I think in the long run helps Florida out. With Bob gone (again I know point and laugh) the Panthers can bring back Dreidger for a solid cap hit. Not a Panthers fan but this was pretty fun, let me know what you think :)

Not sure you can give Seattle enough to take Bobrovsky (they can probably smell the desperation) plus he needs to waive his NMC correct? With those picks all likely being in the 2nd half of the first round, they're not super valuable. Retaining on that contract seems unwise, if that was my only option I'd probably do the buyout instead (should be over by the time you need to give Spencer Knight a big deal).

I bet Lundell and Denisenko might get it done (not suggesting that as a deal but if I'm Seattle that's my first ask).

Admittedly I'm not super familiar with the prospect pool outside of Lundell, so I didn't really know who to add their. I was definitely tempted to put him in the deal however, but decided against it. I don't really think a buyout is an option, you'd be paying him ~6 mil until 25-26 and paying him 2 mil after that until 2031, so if you are going to trade him I think retaining is the only way to get it done, even with all the assets the world has to offer. Again I know its very unlikely that you can even move Bob but I think you can theoretically do it with the right package + retention.

Honestly, I'd just run with the contract for a few years until we can safely buy him out. There are no real issues posed by his contract atm. No reason to give up a king's ransom in prospects and picks to get rid of it, it would just be bad asset management to do that.

My only worry is within the next 2 years, Florida has to sign nearly every big piece they have. Even if you don't sign Wennberg and/or Bennett, you need to find a way to bring back Barkov, Huberdeau, Marchment, Verhaeghe, Weeger, and Knight (and to a lesser extent Vatrano and Forsling). I don't think you can make that happen with the Bob contract on the books and buying him out in 2 years still means you need to pay him essentially 7 mil until 2026. I think Florida has a right to be a lil desperate right now.

But giving up potential cost controlled assets like high picks and prospects is exactly the opposite of what we should do
We need cheap talent, and trading that away to get rid of a bad contract doesn't seem like the best idea
