Makes no sense to move the Neal contract and retain. You're giving up your 1st and only saving $400k in years 1 & 2, savings don't come until year 3 & 4. That's not effective to make cap space now which you'd be wanting if you moved an asset like that.

Pretty decent work the signings. The trades. Not sure if it’s enough for the other teams to bite.

Capfriendly needs to have a pop up open when publishing an edmonton team that says, “are you acquiring Jake debrusk for nothing?” And just deleting the team if the answer is yes.

D> LW and Jones can play both sides. Jones is also a significantly lower salary. You don't scratch a guy all year that has played 4 years for you of you are happy with the player

Ain't nothing. Cap space relief, D > Winger.

Maybe you can get Seth Jones then 😂

What are you talking about with no savings? First this saves similar to a bought out cost but no cap in year 3 and 4. Plus if you bury him he costs -4M. I'd rather trade than buy out. Plus Seattle gets a player anyway so the conversation is here is a player plus a 1st for a guy and you don't eat his entire cap hit

Take a look at the bruins roster.
No need for cap space.
No room for Seth jones.
No room for Caleb jones (he would be maybe their 10th d man).

From the bruins perspective, this is a trade of debrusk for nothing. Make an offer that makes the contending team better, or move along.

Cap space isn't nothing for the Bruins. 3.675M for a guy you scratch is a lot

It makes no sense. You don't trade a 1st + a good prospect for $400k in savings. Clearly you don't understand asset value in the NHL.

The bruins have ample cap space. Tons of it. No issue for cap space.

When you make a trade, maybe take a second or two to just glance at the other teams roster.

Where is the 400k saved? Versus a buy out? But then you cost more $1.9M in year 3 and 4.... When you will need that money

I did look at the team; your D needs work and a guy who could be a top 4. Didn't win a cup. And when you resign Rask, Krejci, Hall you need cap space.

You aren’t saying Jones would be top four the bruins, are you? Jones would never play for the bruins unless 5 guys were hurt.

Anyhow, funny that you bring up those three, because all three of them said that their next contract would not be about money. Rask will be out until january, so prorate that. Give krejci and hall all you want. Still tons of cap space.

Maybe you should look harder.

Again, in terms of the immediate bruins roster, which is all that matters to bruins management, this trade is debrusk for nothing.

Just think the B's will be using Debrusk in a package to get an upgrade on D. I mean he's coming off the worst year of his career and he's still averaging 22 goals over 82 games. They dont need another depth LHD. If they want to open up money i would rather see them move Debrusk for a higher pick, rather than a guy they already pretty much have.

$1.9M isn't worth a 1st or Samorukov, let alone both. And you added two 6ths... Chairelli-style.

Not saying that the Bruins trade is good, but I am surprised that is the trade you are getting skewered for. The Pens trade is abysmal. First, Zucker does not fit with Geno and won't get any time with Sid, so he has to be moved for cap reasons, but that doesn't mean that he is a cap dump. Second, the Pens are not moving any high draft picks or prospects unless they are blown away by the offer, neither Kassian or Turris are worth a 2nd alone. Third, Edmonton is stuck with that Kassian contract, just accept that. Fourth, why would the Pens have any interest in Turris at all? He is not good enough offensively to play anywhere near the top 6 and he is nowhere near strong enough defensively to play in the bottom 6.

You claim that you looked at the other teams before making your trades, but it is clearly obvious that you didn't consider the Pens needs/wants at all. The Pens do not need almost $5M in players that are basically useless to them.
