Really? That bottom-6 is pretty bad in my opinion, and the defense doesn't have a true 1st pairing. Muzzin and Brodie are nice but in my opinion they're a strong 2nd pair, weak 1st pair.

Varlamov can carry this team a bit and those are 3 pairs that will play up to their strengths. The only thing i would try to do is maybe sign Kuraly instead of Brooks at that 4C

Dude I'm a leafs fan but I don't think Hyman is re-signing. Its getting more and more unlikely and they're reports coming out that teams are going to be willing to overpay for him. I don't see the leafs bringing him back

Varlamov is the product of the system the Isles play. They Isles can make any goalie good.

Also if Toronto trades Rielly it will be for a forward. I don’t really think they need defenseman on this team especially since the emergence of Sandin and Liljegren being NHL ready. If the trade Rielly and lose Kerfoot to Expansion they have 21 million in cap space. They probably won’t go after the big fished but they’ll go after a Jake McCabe, Oleksiak and etc.

I see the Leafs going after guys more like Domi, Dvorak and etc. As they’ll have lower costs.

I like the Bertuzzi trade but we aren’t giving up Amirov. Amirov has an extremely high ceiling and can easily be a Brandon Saad kind of player. They’re extremely valuable and you’ll need those in the later years of contention.

I don’t really think they’ll part will a lot of their big name prospect especially since most are NHL ready or close to. I like the ideas but I just don’t see it happening unfortunately.

Bertuzzi is worth way more to Detroit than what's offered here.
